I was wondering since CK is going to be focused on dynastic succession and the concept of a family line - will there be a representation of the "Royal Court" and the subsequent palace intrigues and so forth? How would this be represented on the strategic level?

It might be neat to have the player access certain options/stats/actions through the appropriate court officers.

For instance, you want to muster/review troops, you click on the marshal/constable. To access/view your treasury, click on the chamberlain.

I know the offices were different from kingdom to kingdom, but its possible to make some generalizations between them regardless of the actual titles.

Royal Council.

4 positions there. I think we discussed them in one of the threads a few months ago.

The goal being that you can delegate certain areas to these characters, who also act in your abscence (e.g. defining zones of control while your ruler is away on a crusade).

Are these functions handled by the AI while you are on crusade or do you still control them but with their own capabilities/limitations (stats) as opposed to the royal capabilities? :)

That would be great !!! But what happen if some one want's to make a coup?? Like happen with Richard lion heart??

Ohh my God when this game will be realeased :D :D :D

As long as they all do not have tokens on the strategic map[ like in a certain other Medieval era game...;), which would turn into a huge mass of chaos] then I will be glad.

It would be great if these characters also had levels of competance, loyalty, aggression, piety, etc. Basically a simulated personality. Perhaps even if they were to take actions contrary to your policies.... :) It would be a nice shock to find out that your leading general has been lying to you all along about troop quantities and strength and he's planning to dethrone you next month.... :D

I really like Shadowstrike's ideas. After all, court intrigues were rather common.

(Not only in Byzantium)

Court intrigues is interresting :)

Another thing I'd love to see is the possiblity of harboring foreign exiles. By supporting an exiled claimant to a title you could gain land or money if you succede (or even topple him to steal the title, as happened somtimes :D)

now we are talking! :)

court intrigues....Nice!

I hope court intrigues are included....

As Byzantium I could see trying to set up fake popes and dukes/princes in Italy or re-conquered Roman lands.
