So apparently the Ruler Designer DLC and the Game of Thrones mod hate each other.
I designed one Rickard Bolton to reign over the Dreadfort. Made him a strong genius with crippling greyscale scars to compensate (in my head, I imagine one of his legs is wholly consumed by it, hence the crippling) and keep him below 60 years.
Things are going well. Vassals like me, taxes are flowing in, I'm Hand of the King...Prior to attempting to out said king's child as a bastard, I save and quit the game to go have some dinner.
I return. I attempt to load the saved game. It crashes. I attempt multiple times. Every time crashes.
DLCs included: Legacy of Rome, Ruler Designer, Songs of Yuletide, The Sword of Islam, Way of Life.
Configurations tried:
Load all DLC + mod. Crashed.
Load all DLC + mod, minus Ruler Designer. Crashed.
Load Ruler Designer + mod. Crashed.
Load no DLC + mod. Crashed.
Load all DLC in base game. Design Hungarian ruler in base game. Save game. Load game. Successful.
Load Hungarian ruler inside mod. Successful, with the interesting side effect of the GoT map retaining its shape but being populated by base-game regions. (Example: Winterfell is now Clydesdale. If anyone wants to play some alternate universe scenario, I guess.)
It can deal with the default game just fine. It can load default rulers in both base game and mod. It can even plaster Hungarian culture all over Westeros without so much as a hiccup, paradox (HA!) be damned. But something about a custom ruler + the mod just screws it up. I'm at a loss. (Maybe related: Using the Designer inside the mod limits Coat of Arms options to Plain layout, one usable slot, and no emblems.)
