Hi
I have some problems with DD. It crashes all the time (often when I use the left shift button but also for no reason that I can see). I have the latest patch and DXDIAG say there is nothing wrong. I get this error message:

"Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
Runtime Error!

Program: C:\Program\ParadoxInteractive\Doomsday\HoI2.exe

This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact the application's suport team for mor information."

This may not be DD related because I have had some problems with Microsoft .net framework but I thought I fixed that (it would be good to rule that out)… Any tips anyone?

Also is there no search engine on this forum or am I just blind?

Have you installed the 1.1 patch?

Okay let's try some standard things.
1) Make sure you have the latest patch for the game.
2) Rename the AVI folder to AVI_back
3) Set the color depth to 16BIT
4) Turn off everything in the background like E-mail/ICQ/Messenger, Virus protection and everything in the system tray beside the clock.
5) Run a Virus check and a Adware/Spybot checker
6) Update your Windows, update your Video card drivers and audio card drivers. Then repeat steps 1-4.

Try Windowsupdate to get the latest patches/fixes.

Do you use M$ Net 1.1 or 2.0 ?

Apparently I have both installed. Shouldn’t 2.0 replace or delete 1.1? What is .net framework anyway? Some developer tool or something? Is it used by DD?

Yes i use the patch and I’ll try the rest later and tell you how it goes.

I have located what I do when the game crashes… If I select several units (by dragged a box around them for example) and I want to deselect some of them I usually hold down left shift and click on the unit I don’t want in the stack. The game often crashes just as I click on the unit. I thought that the game crashed when I hold down shift but it seems that it was the clicking part that did it…

Hare bra…

If you have a save game where this happens every time you perform that action then you can submit the save following the instructions in the sticky thread on reporting bugs.

Well, it sure is a stange error. Obviously, it's produced by the visual C++ runtime library. The strange part is, that these DLL's are all part of a regular Windows installation, of which the game makes use (as do practically all programs that are written in Visual C++, which is like 90% of Windows itself).

Now, the weird part is that to date I have never actually seen these DLL's produce this error, and I have had my share of irregular program terminations on various Windows platforms, upto and including XP.

It doesn’t happen every time i do the clicking part but i think i use savegames when it happens.

When i did a search on the net for this problem found that ousters with the same problem but not the same game... It seams that it is something wrong with my computer not the game. I saw one guy that had a faulty RAM that caused the problem... I seam to have faulty disks to (scandisk say so but can’t seam to fix them)… Sense I can’t afford new hardware I have to keep from using the shift keys… Thanks for all the help.

Ps. any tips on a “check if I have faulty memory software” I can use? Ds.
