Win2K, GC, 1.04, playing as Benin, no mods, no savefile manual editing.

I get the following error when trying to load a particular savefile:

"Error: (Relation: Unexpected field) 'month=january' Line=59680 file=scenarios\save games\Benin.eug. Do you still want to continue? [abort][retry][ignore]"

If I select ignore, the game CTDs before fully loading.

Savefile is available.

moving this to support, I'll be back later. In the mean time, check the sticky threads in the support forum.

Cheers Viper. Can't seem to find an appropriate thread though. I posted it in the bug forum, as I don't see how this could be related to my system. Up to now, I've had zero problems of this sort, and since then, I have reloaded other savefiles without any problem.

I was refering to the "Running problems" thread.

I have seen this problem before, but I was unable to fix it.

Anyway, send me your game file at eu_traduction@yahoo.ca

Viper,

Have you received the savefile I send 2 days ago?

yes I did. I haven't checked it yet. You're the next one on the list however, so I should look at it tonight.

Cheers Viper, I know you're busy.

The reason I asked is because my yahoo email was playing funny, so it took me, believe it or not, 4-5 tries before I managed to attached the damn file...

Tak your time. :)

I don't know what's going on with yahoo; when I first opened my account everything was fine, but now I often have trouble accessing my mail or attaching a file (like waiting 10 min for the file to upload only to get a message "sorry you cannot attach file larger than 1.5mb" )

I tried to send something to Johan yesterday and I too needed to try 2-3 times

A free email service is worth what you pay for it ...

I suppose so :(

Coralsaw:

I've got your game and it gives me the same error message as you, with the same consequences (CtD) when pressing retry or ignore.

DO you have the EPP or any mod installed?

Re/ yahoo mail, it started to suk about a month ago. Oh, and I had this very weird case of me pressing "delete" message and coming up several times with this hateful, despicable, piss-off ad of the well-known spy camera. I should start using my own SMTP account methinks...

Viper, AFAIR, I clean-installed 1.04 because of the error. Definitely no mod including the EEP one, as it gave me problems some weeks ago under 1.03 and I dropped it.

Should be easy to see if a clean-installed 1.04 gives the same error.

The next version of the EEP should be ok. They were using leaders ids above 20000 and that was a problem.

This game that crash, is it a game started in 1.04, clean install, or what is started before that, and only once you encountered the problem did you reinstall the game cleanly?

When it stopped loading, what was going on before? Did you simply saved and exited and next time you played it happenned? Did it crash before the run-time error?

I know it's a lot of questions... :)

Yes, clean-installed 1.04, then started the game, then saved, then loaded and crashed. I remember it well, because I was playing a boring Eire game before and as soon as 1.04 came out I decided to start a new one.

Nothing special was going on before. I saved, then after about 2-3 years it CTDd and then I loaded the game again and got the runtime errors.

Hope this helps. :)

no it doesn't; I wished you had done something special :D

ah well, I'll look again through the file and then I'll send it to Johan.

Forgot to mention I was tapdancing to the EU2 tune playing, while saving the file. :D

I have sent your file to Johan and he replied that there was a missing chunk in the middle of the file, just as if you had run out of hard disk space or you had a bad cluster.

How often do you defrag your drive?

About once a month, and I always make sure I have half a gig left. Anyways, Win2K, like all Win is a non-deterministic system. ;)

As long as the problem is not systemic, I'm all joy. Sorry to have taken your and Johan's time, I don't know what happened there. :)

No problem, try defragging once a week and especially after you install/uninstall software. If it happens again under these condiditions, please let me know. :)
