Introduction:
Privet vsem! The purpose of this correction is to correct the Russian language in the game Arsenal of Democracy. In my opinion, this is not a modification of the game, so I deliberately do not post it in mods. I’ve been thinking about this work since the release of the game, but I thought that the Russian community might fix everything, but a miracle didn’t happen, I had to do everything myself :) . And in April 2019, work began. The work process proceeded with interruptions and stops. The lack of support for the Cyrillic alphabet greatly influenced me and, in fact, the work was abandoned, only minor edits were made. But recently this was fixed and work continued! The archive was specially divided into two parts so that it would work in both the original version of the game and the completely russian-language version of the game.

In folder AOD 1.12 fix rus:
Because the names of divisions, ministers, and the map do not support many languages, I was forced to divide the fix of the russian version of the game into two parts. The work began with version 1.11 and is still ongoing. For the international version of the game, I made a small fix for the Russian version of the game, which involves changing the config/. Many tests were done, a lot of painstaking work was done, of course, many mistakes and defects were made. It was not the goal to change the game balance or modify the game, the goal was only to correct the spelling and translate what was not translated.
config:
- all message windows fixed;
- fixed trade menu;
- added links in db/events/<county_name> to config/event _text;
- production menu corrected;
- the names of the countries have been corrected (older, abbreviated versions from version 1C were taken, since the names of the countries overlap each other in the main menu of the game (for example, Nationalist China - Nat. China));
- sea and land regions, names of provinces have been corrected;
- descriptions of technology stages and names of technologies have been corrected;

Данный архив преследует цель полностью русифицировать игру. Я постарался полностью "причесать" русскую версию Arsenal of Democracy, выловить и исправить все недочеты и ошибки, в итоге это привело к очень долгой и не постоянной работе, началось все с версии 1.11, а заканчивается (а закончится?) 1.12. Проделано много тестов, проделана большая, кропотливая работа, конечно было совершено много ошибок, брака. Не было целью изменить игровой баланс или видоизменить игру, цель была лишь исправить орфографию, перевести не переведенное. Внимание: данный архив не поддерживает другие языки, так-что не забудьте поменять язык в игре на русский (Arsenal.exe - русский)
config:
- исправлены события, добавлены ссылки в db/events/<county_name> на config/event _text, слишком длинные описания событий укорочены;
- исправлены окна сообщений;
- поправлено меню торговли;
- поправлено меню производства;
- поправлены названия стран (взяты более старые, сокращенные варианты из версии Snowball, т.к. названия стран наезжают друг на друга в главном меню игры (к примеру Националистический Китай - Нац. Китай));
- исправлены морские и сухопутные регионы, название провинций;
- поправлены описания к этапам технологий и названия технологий;


map:
- map/ - карта мира исправленная из локализации Snowball, переведены реки;

db:
- db/tech/armor_tech - исправлено появление легко танковой бригады; (AFAIK это правка добавлена в Steam версию игры)
- db/leaders - переведены имена военачальников, использованы материалы из локализации Snowball, а так же запросы в Wikipedia, Google, (special thanks to the guys who left information in the title of the picture);
- db/unitnames - имена дивизий (Snowball, поправлено);
- db/army, navy, airnames - переведены (спасибо, Snowball);
- db/ministers - переведены имена всех политических деятелей, в ходе анализа и сборки всех в одной таблице, выяснилось, что их на 4000+ больше, по сравнению с оригинальной HOI2, старался все делать корректно, но Тибет, прости пожалуйста, как и некоторые Голландские и Испанские деятели (использованы материалы Snowball).
-db/tech/teams - переведены технологические команды у всех стран, некоторые моменты спорные, возможно есть более короткие и лаконичные варианты, в конце поста оставил объединенный рабочий файл, в котором есть возможность просмотреть все имена и подобрать более удачные (половина команд по материалам Snowball);
-db/randomleaders (по материалам Snowball)

scenarios:
в данной категории переведены имена дивизий на старте сценария по материалам Snowball с некоторыми незначительным правками:

- замена вступительных экранов сценариев из версии игры Snowball

exe (Cheksum: YYWY):
- к сожалению, некоторый текст в игре подвергаются правке только в исполнительном файле, по этому там внесены некоторые изменения;
- добавлена полная поддержка кириллицы в unitnames (огромное спасибо OldOdin и Julie за поддержку), теперь никаких 1ya strelkovaya diviziya;

Имеется отсебятина:
- gfx/load_<...> - начальные экраны, с локализованным титулом;
- gfx/interface - картинки провинций (Голан, Окинава, Сингапур, Тель-Авив, Кабул, Гавана, Иерусалим);
- gfx/interface/frontend/vs.bmp - заменил на русское слово "ПРОТИВ";

Если вам не нужно данное васянство, просто удалите эту папку.

Как установить:

распаковать RAR архив и скопировать в директорию игры с заменой файлов игры

Что осталось:
- на данный момент имена министров, технологических команд, имена дивизий в началах сценариев, авторы. До сих пор морские провинции по моему мнению далеки от идеального, имена немецких военноначальников с 997 по 1036 требуют правки, возможны и другие ошибки. Окно статистики, которое показывает тип защиты, атаки дивизий переведен не будет : )

Oh, I just changed the all lightmap files and everything works! Translation of military leaders and ministers looks difficult. With HoI2 copy will not work. Here is the way Hess:

I returned. Ship brigades are not translated (empty cells in the excel file S and L ships) - ASW, AA, radar, fire control, hull. Corrected. Removed dots in the brigade name:

Fixed an error with Ryukyu. The name string_name in file world_names was wrong - AREA_RYUKYULAND ---> AREA_RYUKYUSLAND. Now the area is displayed in all languages. Fixed a zone with the southeastern Pacific Ocean (only rus).
 
I was absent for a long time). Translated new countries and events in the last beta.
Now the problem of untranslatable words in the division’s movement window is the <planned arrival date>. In the trade window - naval convoy - place of arrival <to convoy: provname>. Intelligence window - the word percent cannot be translated into other languages. And also in the statistics window the of attack / movement / defense / in english - <аtt _snow, def _snow, etc>. If you delete all words from the config, these parameters are not there. They do not have a string in csv. files. In the Russian community this issue is not raised. The Japanese have translated the game completely, but it is radical. Replacing the Latin alphabet with Japanese writing. I see the solution only in adding string to csv files, but this is working with the game code - it never worked with these. As soon as new events and countries are fully added - I will send a link to the corrected config.

I think that all this changes and fixes the problem of this localization of rus - grammatical errors are corrected, points are added or removed, geographical names, messages, technologies, and division names are corrected. The corrected Ryky island string belongs to the entire language. But I'm doing it slowly, and when the 1.12 patch is finally available, I'll need compare the strings in the config files, then I won't have any errors.

Arsenal of Discovery here. Play as UK, I have got pop-up hint #33 about strait and I have decided to fix mistaken province name in Rus. We have got two Elesynd name - one in Norway as land and one as sea/strait between Denmark and Sweden. Switched of strait name on Oresund. I also compared this hint with English version and province name - name and hint was correct.

For scientific experimentation I change the names of divisions into Russian and I found that the game has limited support for the Cyrillic. Identified 14 letters that do not work. I don't know why and how other letters is work.

Although the menus, messages, and units (in the Tech screen) support the Cyrillic alphabet the game file does not. The reason is that when loading a new scenario or saved game, AoD (and HOI2) does not use the proper encoding (Windows-1251) so it does not recognize the all of Cyrillic letters. You would think that since they parse all the event text, messages, Techs, and menus they would have done the same for the saved games and scenario files.
 
Ok! Thank Czarina Julie! I am understand now this issue. I thought too about it. Also I found very old russian forum and I got ?shock? - they discussed "Cyrillic problem" and they fixed all same mistakes in localization then I fixed now. I think they fixed more mistakes then I and they makes this more professionally. I whole my time thought that problem rus localization no matter but I turned out to be mistaken.

Have you tried HOI4? Paradox might have fixed the issue. I know that in HOI3 and Darkest Hour that the Cyrillic issue still exists. Maybe they finally fixed it in HOI4.

I tried HOI4 after read Your post. Paradox have maked great work - fully support Cyrillic! Amazing! But some mistakes I found very fast. About DH - yes this game have Cyrrilic issue, as for HOI3 - this game unfortunally never localization on rus officialy only fans maked it and have Cyrillic issue. This is bitter but my favorit Arsenal of Democracy still miss rus letters:(
