I'm looking to try 3 Mountains. Any advice, as latest patch gives an even harder start than before?

Go to youtube and look for AlzaboHD's video. He goes over using the Shogunate and conquering the world I believe this is still possible in 1.29. Otherwise, I'm not as good as other people at the game and only have 1500 hrs, havent gotten around to trying the 3 mountain achievement.
Pravis gaming also did a whole 3 mount series using the shogun trick.
Edit: it is still possible without shogun trick, but it is far, far easier. Your other option is basically no cb someone in Philippines when ready and expand from there. (Basically)
