Hello, and welcome to Sardinian Diaries. Sardinian Diaries is an AAR that is written in the form of diary logs. This style of writing is meant to have less images, though I will try to add them where they are necessary. This also means that I can put out more updates at a time. My style is a bit more simple, which does mean that updates will seem to be shorter, though I'll try my best to write out what I can. There will hopefully be humor here and there, but the general idea is immersing yourself in what is supposed to feel like a historical diary. With that said, I want to apply some house rules. Firstly, there is absolutely no reloading of any kind. If I screw up, I screw up. That's it. Secondly, absolutely no cheating of any kind. I don't do it anyway, so why start now? Thirdly, I will not go over the force limits at any point. Fourthly, I will not be cancelling any missions unless it goes over my force limits (for instance, if I got 'Protect against France!' and my force limit was, say, 5, then no, I will not be doing that) or it's something that I physically can't do. I think that that should be enough, and with that, here's the sort of set-up log.

DIARY LOG #1

1356, King Mariano IV d'Arborea
It is the year of our Lord 1356. I have ruled this nation for nine years, and not very much has happened. I intend to change that. Well, what I intend to change was actually suggested by the senate, but, regardless, I intend do it anyway.

First things always go first, and that is the army's size. Allow me to see... Perfect. Three regiments. That's a lot of men, now I'll see what Savoy has in terms of numbers.

Ouch. It would appear that I need some allies, as we could only field three thousand men without our economy taking a dump in the royal toilet. I had some diplomats look around, and it appeared that only two nations would accept: Switzerland and Provence. They would be beneficial, as they both field a shockingly larger army of seven regiments. We would all need to work together in order to destroy the Savoyard army of nine regiments. Or I could let them fight for me. That's an interesting idea, actually.
Anyway, with that aside, it's time to look at the domestic policies, as the peasants ask for a new change every ten or so years. I looked very carefully at my options, as anything could mean disaster or fortune for my nation of Sardinia. After careful thought, I assumed that the quality of our troops could use a bit more quality-ing up.

A little bit after I did this, however, an entire host of potential recruits were declared unfit for duty. Ah, well. We must seperate the parmigiano-reggiano from the cheddar.
I decided to take a look at my nation's economical status. It seemed to be in decent shape, it could be better, but it isn't awful. I ultimately decided to fund into the stability of my nation, as that is always particularly useful.
Militaristically, Sardinia could handle more ships, but, as aforementioned, we were at the full support limit army-wise. I funded a project to build another cog, so that all of my men could be transported at once to Savoy when the time came.

With this all finished, I commissioned a tapestry for the memory of Sardinia's past, and waited for the time to strike.

I would hope that this is enjoyable, and the next update should come shortly. It should hopefully be longer, as it won't be a sort of prelude, but keep in mind that these are diary logs and that they are going to be short at times, but there will be multiple updates per day (I'm hoping).
