Save game editing problems - game won't load it

I have a savegame that the game won't load. I need it to continue my aar. The problem started when I tried adding some characters in. It didn't work. So i tried converting them into savegame format using the game. it didn't work. I then tried removing all traces of the characters. Guess what. it still didn't work. I have the savegame if you want it.

Did you edit it in Excel or Notepad?

Notepad. Why would I open it in Excel?

In case it helps anybody, the errors are:
-"Cannot read lhs in scenario file: attributes"
-"Illegal toplevel object: stewardship = 27.234"
-"Database mismatch!" - At this point it Ctd's

I'd like to know how the problem was resolved;
I'm also having problems with not being able to load savegames, edited with both notepad and CrusaderEd...

This is an old thread.

I discovered in the savegame that the last chracter before the rebels had a lot of the lines mixed up. So I corrected them and it worked. I don't know how that got like that though.
