I had something very weird happen to my autosave game last weekend.

I was playing happily for several hours, and suddenly the game crashed back to the Windows desktop. Luckily this doesn't happen often :).

I thought there would be no real setback, as the game autosaves every january 1st ....

So I reloaded the autosave. The map appeared, but it appeared in CoT modus. There was no way I could find to restore to the normal map view. I could click on the countries, and, judging by the sound effects, I *WAS* selecting provinces in normal modus. However, the map and the side panel remained in CoT modus.

I had no choise but to revert back to a much older save game :(

Has anyone else seen this effect?

That was the very first thing I tried. Didn't work.

I had the same problem, actually I was not aware of this "normal" mode button. I had always used the big three buttons ("Diplomacy", "Trade" and "Colonization")and then used "back" button to get back to normal mode. After loading saved game there is no "back". However, there are 3 extra buttons that are difficult to see: Just under the 3 big, colourful buttons there are 3 small buttons on the the top of the mini map. Those small buttons change color when you move mouse over them, but I had not noticed them before.
