Currently in a MP with 5 other guys. Things are going pretty well, nice Role Play aspect to the game etc...

Anyway we had our first session last eve went well for 2.5 hours someone crashed.

We got around that, but then there were some issues with getting the save game back. Now we have a Tech officer who is very good with the management of files he has a lot of expirence in this area.

My question is when you restore the save game files to each person how long should this take? It seemed last night some people got to 100% fast, others got bogged down.

If anyone has some expirence with this issue specificly please post a reply and itemize what you did, or what your expirence was.

Thanks,

Odin

If nothing happens for a while, the download is not working.

It seems that for some reasons some people cannot download the save files automatically. No idea why, but it happens, and always with the same people. Maybe it has something to do with the configuration.

To get around this, you have to send the savegame file (either via ICQ or email attachment) to the player. It is a good idea to zip it before sending. Only send the .eug file, not the .eug.cfg file.

Save the file in the save game folder and join the game - voila !

Thanks Isebrand

Thank man,

This is really a first for me never had an issue before with other games but this is the first 6 person Mp that I have embarked on for the long hall, most of the others were to test specific scenarios with various people knowing it was a one time game, sometimes twice.

Thank again,

Odin

I think that when you are restoring a saved game with a lot of people and everyone has to download from the host at once, i've noticed that one or two will download at a fast rate, then when they are done someone else starts to download at a fast rate., then someone else, etc.

If a person still doesn't download at all, then the file has to be sent via icq or email, then it works fine.

Just FYI. . .

I am the host for Odin's game, we have tried the standard file transfer (within HOI) and just emailing the files. I have also played in and hosted other MP games. By far the easiest way to do it is just to email a zip of the saved game file.
