Save game vanished Xbox Series X during service outage Friday night

Hi,

I was sent here by Xbox support. Friday night there was an issue with xbox live not working as it should. I didn't know this until it was too late. I opened my Cities Skylines to find out it was completely reset, so I couldn't 'continue' or load any games. My save file seemed to be completely empty. This was quite the shock since I've been working on some of my cities for 2 years. Whatever the cause of this, I didn't do anything other than open the game as usual. The fact that this happened during a xbox service outage is why I think that was the cause. Somehow my game was reset and it then synced my empty game to the cloud immediately.

I think this is a VERY bad backup system if this is how it works. Xbox support, whom I finally managed to contact today told me they could't do anything to restore my save told me to contact the developer/publisher. So here I am. I hope anyone can help me restore my save or at least give me an explanation how this can happen, because when Remastered comes out I don't want this to happen again in 2 years time. Or ever..

The developers don't seem to reply to a lot of the threads in the forums (especially the console forum pages). Your best bet is to submit a support ticket here: https://support.paradoxplaza.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

Also, not sure if you are aware, but if you plan on picking up the remastered game you wouldn't be able to transfer your saves/progress anyway. Though I can understand how it's upsetting to lose your saves on the current version.

Hey, thanks for the reply. I am aware that I can’t take my save games to remastered but I just don’t what to start remastered if there’s chance of losing all my work while there’s nothing you can do to retrieve it. And it’s not my own fault. I didn’t delete anything.

I love CS but this system sucks and makes me wonder whether I should switch to ps5 but I have so many games on Xbox and don’t want to own 2 consoles. On the other hand CS is pretty much the only game I play and don’t want to lose my cities again.
