I just reinstalled my DD and i noticed something odd. It seems all my saved games are in alphabeticall order rather than in chronological order (like it was before). I recently switched PCs hence the reinstalling.

Its strange, this has never happened before...is there a way to change it so its chronological?

I figure this might be more relevant in this section.

Depends. hoi 2/doomsday list the save game files in the same order the operating system reports them .;)

I set the order to dates in my folder but they still remain alphabetical.

I just got windows XP, so i assume that thats what causing it to list them like that.

Anything i can do?

No. Because when I say it lists them in the order the OS reports them, I really mean that.

The sort order in the Windows Explorer is determined by the Explorer, which is simply an application, just like any other.

A DIR command entered on the command prompt will list the files in the order as any application will get to see them. And this order will depend on the operating system used, and the file system used. FAT16 or FAT32 stores filenames in a different order as NTFS. ;)

What you see in the game is the unsorted file name list, as is maintained on disk by the operating system.

Not as far as I know, unless you have a tool that can reorder the directory entries on disk.

You could try this:

move your '\scenarios\save games' folder to another place, then create new folder in '\scenarios' just to name it 'save games'. Then copy (not move) your files there from old backed-up directory in order you want them listed in HoI2/DD.

I dont know if it works, but it could in theory.
