So on one of the rare occassions that I got the game running (using Debian Wheezy), I played on for a while, periodically saving manually, overwriting the previous save and checking the "Steam Cloud" box.
Finally, when I was done for the moment, I saved the game once more and left; later, when I returned to pick up where I left, I couldn't: the "Load Game" button is disabled, presumably because this used to be my only save game which is now gone.
I'd really appreciate any help.

EDIT: Tried saving a game without ticking the "Steam Cloud" box. This time around it seems to have worked, so for the time being, I'll use that as a workaround.

(Somewhat OT: I'm getting more and more frustrated with the technical issues. I've really been looking forward to playing for quite a while now and now that it's out, I can only play on my notebook's Debian Wheezy system (even though it's not working reliable at all and has a few issues like this one) much rather than my desktop computer running Xubuntu 14.04 and otherwise exceeding the recommended requirements. I do appreciate the effort to make this game available on Linux very much, but I'd expected a much more well-tested game than this. I'll not go as far as to call this launch as bad as that of Sim City turned out to be, but there is a core similarity: as much as Sim City wasn't playable for people when it was launched, Cities: Skylines isn't playable for me at the time of the launch and I'm not seeing any evidence of the developers trying to fix it.)

I totally agree. I really hoped this game would give linux gaming a boost. I asked three people who bought this game and playing on linux as well, all have more or less gamebreaking issues, (crashing at saving, no textures, wrong textures, lags and so on, I totaly won the lottery when it comes to bugs/glitches :) ). I know it is hard work and yes you are allowed to take a break and eat pizza and wine but don't call it a successful start while the bugs/report forums and steamforums are filling with tickets/support request. I would not have been mad if you canceled linux support and or delayed it for a couple of weeks to make it stable but to be honest, most of the wine emulated games are running better than this.

Don't get me wrong, Linux players know the problems and are happy companies try to offer more and more games to them so they can love their operating system of choice. All the linux player trying to help the devs and posting logs, assumptions and trying to figure out workarounds of their own, but most of the threads are getting abandoned.

At least tell the players if you noticed an issue and/or when you are attempting to look for it (1 day?, 1 week?, 3 months?). that's the least i expect.
