Saved Games, A problem for me?

Greetings,
Anyone else have problems with saved games?
Mine happens to be upon reloading a previous saved game,
"Reading Scenario" is when it strikes. Whether it is auto-saved or F10 save. It has happened 3 of last 4 times.
I want to be able to come back to a game rather than hoping the save will work. so sad.....

The following is hardware info:

- Computer and/or mother board make and model
Intel(r) Celeron ™ Processor 400Mhz

- Windows version
Windows 98

- DirectX version
Direct X EU uses.

- Total system RAM
128.0 MB of RAM

- Total hard drive space
3.49GB used space
527MB free space

- Video card make and model
S3 ViRGE PCI (325)

- Sound card make and model
Avance Logic, Inc. ALS120 Logical Device 0 Wave Audio Device

- Description of what you were doing when the problem
occurred

Sitting down, looking at screen, waiting for save game to load.

It was “Reading Scenario” when problem occured.
I wanted to re-start saved game. So I get all the way though click to start and it freezes up while Reading Scenario, EU Was not responding, was the message I got after using
ctrl-alt-delete to get out of screen. Then I come to find out, my CD-Rom access has been severed. Computer could not find device.

I went ahead and re-installed the game, made sure i placed direct X8, deleted all previous games. My friend Cletus, and I wanted to play on-line. So i went ahead and got patch 1.08 and thanks to you i also have 1.09b to playtest, with Cletus.

Today i will attempt to Play a saved game from last-night Played with the 1.09b patch. I will let you know, however it turns out.

Ummm, this is what my game does when trying to load those pesky 0kb saved games. Have you noticed your games saving REALLY FAST just before the problem starts? or trying to start a game from the single player screen and finding that after you select the file the nation shields don't appear?
If so, that's probably your bug. Sorry for butting in.

I amm suddenly having the same problem

I have been playing fine for a month on EU, patch 1.08 and IGC and now, last night - out of nowhere - I am having problems reloading my save games. It sounds like the same problem too. I freeze up when reading the scenario. One time I got a message about the leader files, as well.

I've had the same problem, but also a more serious one, i.e. that I can't save AT ALL after 1611!! See my separate post on this one...
