Hi all,

I am considering playing EU a bit less and putting some time into making an EU tool (java based). Whatever is decided would take some time (weeks) to build as could only put in a few hours a week. Also post please post links to any existing tools that are out there or are in development. No sense in duplicating effort.

So this is a survey...

What would you like to see in a new tool? Which files would you like to see more easly editable? (diplomatix?, province?, something else?)

Known Tools:

Scenario Generator:

Leader Editor
http://euprovince.cjb.net/

Saved Games tool:

EU Validator: (monarch and leader ID tool)

EU Spy: (Save game) <--added, thanks Huszics.

Savant,

LOL, this will not be something that happens very quickly (unless i stop playing EU altogether for a while. I'm just looking for a good way to contribute like you and many other people are doing. I am very much looking forward to the economic tweaks. It would be great to see doomy get those into a new version of the IGC.

I have been looking for something to do with Java at work, but so far nothing, so I thought I would steal some 'game playing' time and make a tool if there is enough interest. At the same time improve my Java programming skills (which aren't getting used at all these days.) The key motivation for me is usefulness. No sense building something and it not being used ("If you build it, They will come" kind of thing).

If anyone else out there knows java and wants to help build a tool (or tools), maybe we could work together on something.

I might be game, depending on my schedule. I've had enough time to put together a object model of the data. My intent is similar to your's - an excuse to do some serious Java learning.

What I've designed is a way of expressing EU data in memory, and persist to and from EU and utility data stores. I have in no way designed any actual utilities to use this "infrastructure".

Let's chat.

Savant If you're lucky, there might actually be something available when you get back - you won't miss a thing. :)

What i would like is a webpage based tool to help with creating MP games.

It should (preferably, don't know if everything is even doable):

• Show the hosts IP.

• The IP should be clickable and produce a file that set the IP to be the preselected join in the Connect to Internet games when you start up EU.

• The Host should be able to announce when and where the game will be played, how many players, which nations (preferably a realtime update of which are currently choosen and which are avalable, should be possible by finding and then filtering it out from the data sent to the clients in the pre game chatscreen), and everything else that could be of interest.

• Check Ping to the host (obviously from the client to the host, not the webpage to the host =)

• And anything else usefull people can think of.

Would be nice, but meanwhile check out the Land province page at my site. Provinces are grouped in geographical areas in there which makes it a fair bit easier to find your province (and it's ID).
