Well, the USA / Russia options have faded off, and two ideas have gotten popular. Copied from my post lower down in the thread, these are the two most desired that I'm going to put to a final vote:

Fascist France: Bloodied and weary after WWI, France says to hell with the Allies, gives in to right-wing sentiments, and forms its own Fascist state. Up for discussion / input would be the degree to which France would cooperate with or oppose Germany.

Italian Alliance: This could take the form of a) Mussolini's historical hesitance about Hitler manifesting itself in a more bold way, and his decision to form an alliance of puppet states with Italy as their imperial head, or b) The Italians take a turn for the democratic, and decide that a strong European free force is needed, and the Allies aren't necessarily it.

I think a Commie France would be more interesting. Trying to hold off the German invasion by yourself until they attack the USSR. Then, to fight the evil capitalists.

Fascist USA. Roosevelt is killed in 1933. Without his charismatic presence, the New Deal fails. Huey Long doesn't die in 1933, and follows through on his promise to run for the Presidency, dissolve the government, and rule as dictator of the United States after the election of '36. The extended Depression in the US means that the people who supported Long historically are willing to try pretty much ANYTHING.

I like your fascist France plan, though it'd be a lot cooler if it were a proper nationalist movement rather than a cheap knockoff of the nazi system. The alliance with Germany must be only because the circumstances demand it - the eternal enemy, the UK, of course! After the vile Anglophone countries are defeated, the Huns must also have their comeuppance. :p

A lot of love for France so far, be it Communist or Fascist... I could see a Fascist France cooperating with Germany and ending up in a sort of rivalry, battling with one another to try to gobble up as much of Europe as possible before the other one does. A Communist France, while interesting, sounds brutal -- trying to repel the German invasion with no help from any of the Ally countries? Could be a nasty proposition.

Napoleon IX, not IV. The Napoleon family does their count rather strangely.

Oh man... Looks like people are really feeling France! A little bit of love for the Italian Democratic Alliance, but it seems like France is the popular winner thus far.. Though there's still the matter of which way to go -- Fascist vs. Communist, and with or against Germany.

The Italian Democratic Alliance is my vote, on the condition that it doesn't support the Allies (or not openly), in fact, probably having some seriously conflicting viewpoints with them. A fascist France would be boring, a communist France not much different from Allied (except maybe a little harder, but otherwise the same strategy can be applied), and America and Russia are too easy for almost any way of playing. On the other hand, the Italian idea is pretty original.

Well I just googled it (gogogo google)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prince_Louis_Napoléon

"Louis, Prince Napoléon, titular 5th Prince of Montfort, (Louis Jérôme Victor Emmanuel Léopold Marie Bonaparte; 23 January 1914 – 3 May 1997) as Napoleon VI was the claimant to the Imperial throne of France in the Prince Napoléon pretender line from 1926 until his death."
So the current pretender would be Napoleon VII
Thats in our timeline present day,

So.. I'm going to narrow it down to the two options that have gotten the most attention, and put it to a final vote. Whichever one wins this vote gets the AAR... I'm eager to write either, frankly :D

Fascist France: Bloodied and weary after WWI, France says to hell with the Allies, gives in to right-wing sentiments, and forms its own Fascist state. Up for discussion / input would be the degree to which France would cooperate with or oppose Germany.

So, let's get to the tallying, and then I'll write my wee butt off!

communist france, with the commie menace strong, i think allies would coop with axis or even ally instead of fighting (austria, czechoslovakia of course annexed by ger), but try to hold on against the channel alliance until ussr feels its the right time to join in

ah too late... :(

Italian alliance, in whatever way, a 4 party in europe, ally or conquer minors of balkans, spain vichy middle east, and then join on a loosing side

Fascist France, like I hoped before! Any communist story would see France become a minor partner to the Soviets. But a nationalist France, bent on retaking colonies like Louisiana and Quebec while in an uneasy peace with the Germans... THAT'S the way to go. Besides, France has a history with the Brits that needs to be resolved.
