so I am playing a game as Austria, it is 1509 and the age of reformation is here
I have been supporting Swedish independence to try to release Holstein from my rival Denmark and as expected Sweden declared an independence war, Denmark's only ally is the one province catholic minor "Augsburg"
for the first year things go well, I white peace Augsburg after taking the city when I suddenly notice 50k ottomans have laid waste to southern Hungary, much to my surprise my other rival Ottomans are now fighting on Denmark's side
Denmark and Ottomans don't have an alliance and the only way they could get into the war with my DLC list is by a rejected enforce peace on Sweden. After 2 years of watching the Ottomans single handedly win the war for Denmark it occurs to me that these unlikely friends do not make much sense, were the Ottomans improving relations with Denmark from before the war even though they are so far apart with different religions
I quickly went to check the Danish opinion of the Ottomans among the modifiers enforced peace and honoured alliance (even though there is no alliance) I spot a strange modifier called "Schmalkaldic league"
Quickly taking to Wikipedia I learn it was a protestant alliance against the emperor supported by France but in my game Sweden, Denmark, Austria and Hungary are all catholic, whereas the Ottomans are Sunni. Although protestants exist, no protestants are in the war
I have never seen this event before, So what triggered the event? What did the event do? Will it trigger whenever I go to war with a rival?
any help would be appreciated as I want to start more wars to liberate the empire, but now I am worried there are 50k Ottomans just waiting to enforce peace on me
