Screen blacking out

I have this recurring problem when i click on one of my ships the screen will occasionally black out. However the program is still running and I managed to get it out of the black screen once without restarting (can't remember how).

I just hate losing an unsaved game.

Make sure you don't have any other programs running in the background, rename the avi folder to avi.old and patch to the latest patch(HOI2-1.3b, DD 1.3a, Arma 1.2). Not sure what else to tell you without more info.
