It's explained in the "*** IMPORTANT: READ BEFORE POSTING HERE ***" sticky thread, which it seems from your confession that you haven't read :)

Oh I knew THAT! I erm, I was just taking the rap for some new users who were too embarrased to post that question.

*slinks back out of the sub-forum*

I have this same problem for Victoria, and EU 2.
I used to be able to play them just fine but now the screen flashes constantly and I do not know what to do about it! the only thing I changed in the time between sessions was the color depth, but I changed it now to 16bit like someone told me to and it hasn't fixed it!
Neither does changing the AVI file name, it only helps make the game load much much faster

AVI is not a file name but a directory (folder) name ... are you sure you changed the right thing? Do the intro videos run or not?

Do ctl-alt-del and look at the task list; do you see MusicMatcher or any other unnecessary applications running? They can take the focus off the game repeatedly.

And check you have the latest video driver for your card.

Yeah I already changed the folder name, I never had Music match and all was working fine until yesterday.
The blinking can be helped if I go on task manager and make EU 2 have high priority, but then the game runs with obvious slowdowns, and the occasional blink.
My usually set of Applications never interfered with these games before and neither did my graphics card.
Though I changed the Graphics to 16bit and then back to 32 bit and then these problems started happening. I've tried changing it to both 16 bit and 32 bit but these flashing continues on either setting.. and that is the only thing that I changed between my two game sessions!

I usually have this problem when I have a gif-like icon/program in the Systray. Maybe you installed a new application that runs such a thingy?

I just got a new laptop with windows 7 and have the same problem...in game screen flashing. Never had any problem before with Vista / XP.

Starting to get quite annoying, anyone got any answers?
