Do you mean to say when you shut down the program it leaves processes running.

That is the definition of shut down, end all processes the program is using.

MusicMatch. It updated itself just before I ran moddir, and in the process it loaded two small programs into my memory, with no icon in the system tray. One was MMdiag, and the other was mim. It has a program called mimboot that loads these programs on boot up. I blocked mimboot and now no flicker.

BTW: In all my experience with uninstalling computer games, including older Paradox titles, save games have not been removed. I foolishly counted on that being the case with HOI 2 as well. Now I know. HOI 2 will without warning clean out your save games folder when it uninstalls.

i have a feeling this is my problem too since i have musicmatch too. how do i go about blocking the application mimboot?

Finally!!!!

Good news....my flicker is gone!!!

It was all about musicmatch. Once i blocked those two applications, the flicker went away and i can start warmongering again without the screen flickering anymore.

thanks to all you guys for helping me out. these forums are really a great way to make a great game even better!!!
