I just bought this game and installed it and I noticed the screen keeps flickering. It is driving me crazy and making it hard to play the game.

I have searched the forums and found other people have the same problem but it is always blamed on faulty drivers, bad video card, bad refresh rate, and no one ever says it's a bug with the game.

I play many other games and have no other problems like this.

I have a:

AMD Duron 1ghz
256 meg of mem
asus geforce 3 ti200
ECS k7s5a
sblive 4.7
WinXP Pro

I have no other problems with any game, I have the latest drivers for all of my hardware. My refresh rate is set correctly. So the only other thing I can think of is that it is a bug in the game, since I am not the only other person with this problem.

If anyone knows a solution to this problem please tell me. The game seems really cool but I haven't gotten too deep into it yet cause the flickering is driving me crazy.

Thanks,

Stigmata

any other ideas?

Maybe this ?

Eliminate Screen Flickers
Sometimes a flicker on your screen can be associated with the refresh rate set for your monitor. To adjust your monitor for an optimal refresh rate, go to the Control Panel and double-click on the Display icon. From the display window, click on the Settings tab. Click on the button labeled Advanced Properties. Then click on the Adapter tab to see the refresh rate. Set the refresh rate to Optimal and that should reduce the frequency of your screen's flickering.

Well I can tell you it's not an XP or GeForce 3 issue at heart, 'cos I've got them too and no flickers here (except when a saved game is being loaded up, curiously). Do you get flickers just when the HD is being accessed or all the time? Try getting the very latest unified XP/2000 Nvidia drivers from their site, 'cos this sounds like a driver issue... as not everyone is experiencing it you see. There are loads of leaked Nvidia drivers floating about too that you may want to try, I'm currently running 27.42 (with no flickers).

I have the latest drivers from the Asus website

version 21.81a

It has nothing to do with my hardware setup. I play medal of honor and serious sam 2 with no problems at all. I should be able to handle EU fine. I have tried everything everyone has told me and it still doesn't work.

I think someone needs to realize that it might be possible that EU has a bug.

Well, it is clear that EU isn't interacting well with your hardware. Where the fault with that is, is neither established nor relevant. I have never had this problem with EU nor have I heard of anyone else having it, so I'm afraid you are going to have to rely on Support for additional assistance. :(

There are other posts with people having the exact same problem as me. And it is always blamed on their system.

I will try these new drivers and let you know if they work.

But I'm running out of things to try. If I don't get this fixed I fear I will just have to take the game back.

Here is what was posted in another thread:

What did help 100% though, was changing the windows taskbar to not autohide, and not being on top. I got this advice on another forum, and thought I would post it here in case anyone else has the same problem.

I think the new drivers did it. I only played for about 5 minutes but no flickers.

Thanks for the help guys.

The only problem is the newer nvidia drivers took away all the asus apps I had in the display properties. Is there any way to get those back?

if you are talking about overclocking utilities and such, yes there's a way. I don't remember exactly how you do it, but you need something called "nvtweak" IIRC; it's a registry patch.

Here is the site where I have found it, just surf around, it might take you a while:
www.tweak3d.net

You won't get Asus stuff, but you'll get more options from Nvidia.
