So, I'm playing the latest version of Stellaris with all DLCs enabled on the latest Windows 11 Pro with the latest nvidia studio drivers for my 4070ti super.
I'm playing on a HDMI-connected 4K Acer XV282K KV screen with maxed out image quality setting, all overlays and RTX filters are disabled, except for riva tuner reporting current fps. The system is not overclocked in any way. Framerate is capped at 139 fps in Nvidia App.

After returning to Stellaris 4.0 after a long break, I'm experiencing an extremely annoying bug. My screen goes black for 3-4 seconds and then returns to normal. Sometimes, it happens twice or trice in a row, resulting in longer blackouts. Sometimes, blackouts occur once or twice every minute, sometimes once every several minutes, and sometimes it's a plague. the game progresses unaffected during blackouts. It's responsive and doesn't crash or suffers any other issues. It's just invisible for me.

Blackouts don't seem to be triggered by any specific action, displayed in-game screens or any game settings. I tried changing windowed/windowed borderless/full screen, refresh rate, vsync, image quality and all quality settings. No effect. This doesn't happens in any other circumstances like playing multimedia, other games or just standard doing work.

It's a clean steam installation of the game. I reinstalled the game after suffering from this issue over the weekend. Nothing changed.

Don't believe there's any background process running that could cause such an issue and I'm out of ideas.

Oh, and I tried running a clean game without any mods. Dealing with the vanilla interface was more than painful and didn't affect the issue, so I returned to basic interface mods changing the layout.

We can't help with modded games here, so please disable them all while we work on this.

Please unload GeForce Experience and/or the Nvidia app, then reset the game's setting sin the launcher-game settings menu, and test with a new galaxy. Does that help at all?

Looks like Nvidia App was the culprit. Odd, since all its filters and overlays were disabled. Thank you for the suggestion. I wouldn't have caught it since it wasn't on my list of suspects.

EDIT:
Case NOT closed.

Alas, after a quarter an hour or so, the issue returned...

There's a new Nvidia driver out today, please apply that then make sure those 2 apps are unloaded again after that.

If still an issue then, the fact it happened after a while only implies an overheating problem. Please report the temperatures of your CPU and video (GPU)
1/ before starting the game up and
2/ after say 10 minutes' play.
If your PC's vendor has given you no way of reading temperatures, install
