Screen keeps flickering

Hey all

I'm playing HoI2 Doomsday on

AMD Sempron 3000+ processor (1.80ghz)
1gb of RAM
Radeon 9550

Whenever I play the game, after the initial loading screen, the game randomly flickers. Its as if the screen just turns itself off and on again instantly. Just for a couple of miliseconds i get a pitch black screen and then it comes back. This happens at regular but differing intervals, ie, sometimes it will do it continuously, but other times it will leave a long delay

This isnt a very serious problem, because the game is still playable, but its very very very annoying, and was wondering if there was a fix

I have the latest catalyst drivers for my Radeon, and I've tried setting my desktop to various different resolutions with the same effect for all

What else can I try?

Try Castellons standard advice (tm)

1) Make sure you have the latest patch for the game.
2) Rename the AVI folder to AVI_back
3) Set the color depth to 16BIT
4) Turn off everything in the background like E-mail/ICQ/Messenger, Virus protection and everything in the system tray beside the clock.
5) Run a Virus check and a Adware/Spybot checker
6) Update your Windows, update your Video card drivers and audio card drivers. Then repeat steps 1-4.
