While scanning the HOI forums, I came across this post by Johan.

Good news..

We've found and fixed three problems with the startup procedure.

1) Ingame savegame-transfer was taking about 20-30 times as long as it should. This has been fixed.

2) A problem which caused the game to crash when leaving the lobby was identified and fixed.

3) Leaving the lobby should no longer corrupt the lobby for everyone else. Ie, if someone joins your game and leaves, you no longer have to restart hosting the game.

Now, all three problems are known to affect EUII as well, so here's hoping that these changes will migrate to EUII, since the MP components are very alike :)

They will be in the next beta version of 1.06b.

(Actually they are in already, as well as some bandwidth optimizations... But I want to read through all feedback etc and balance some more first..)

Since this involves Vnet I'll post a situation which I think should be in the Vnet redesign - if the redesign includes more than just room changes: please, don't allow us (those who click before we look) to try and join a game which has a different version than what we are running. Several times I have joined a game without looking at what I am doing and get totally hung up - I have to re-boot my system. If instead of hanging it just kick back to the MP screen that would be fine.

Yeah, I know, I should look before I click. It happened a few days ago. We were getting the save game downloaded on Vnet and then when we rehosted the host accidently put up 1.06b and several of us joined not thinking that it was not the 1.06 we anticipated. In the grand scheme of life it is not a biggie, but if something can be done about it, it would save us morons a lot of re-boot time.:)

Has the DirectX 9 bug been reported? If not, someone with DirectX 9 installed cannot download EU2 saves from other players. The save file simply hangs at zero percent and never rises.

Hmm.. never heard of that bug, but I've fixed it today. :)

So that was the reason  ... Good to know it was fixed... (one more down :D)

One more option request (not sure if this can be made):
An option to not allow more ppl to join into a game.

Not possible in eu2.

Johan,

You are undermining my position as EU III beta tester - 'cause there won't be a need for EU III if you keep it up!

Thanks for all the patches/fixes.
 :)

Part of what makes it so exciting and fulfilling is the quick response that has come about with the public beta. Those of us who are not beta testers complain and suggest and demand etc. but we don't see the results for quite some time usually. In the past week or so it has been so gratifying to see matters discussed in the forum and then see that Johan has taken it into consideration and made a fix or adjustment for what ever was discussed. I am constantly amazed by Paradox.:)
