Gars, is there any chance of a Mac version (thru VP, maybe)?

Unfortunately, I have no idea. Someone higher up the chain of command needs to answer that.

Exactly, and this is what we're aiming for.

But since they are wandering samurai, then why not be able to give them land?

Or if some of your own courtiers are unhappy, they buzz off, and may join a ninja clan. Is there any kind of hierarchy in the clan itself? Nothing fancy (rule for life, succession based on highest stat), but depending on the leader, there could be clan-wide bonuses (due to his stats) or clan wide limitations/bonuses: Perhaps you're best friend brother is leader of a clan, he will honorably decline actions against you (or it might cost more to accept). Or if he's your enemy, he'll gladly do you in for nothing.

I'm just saying: more intrigue could be added to the intrigue aspect :p

Two reasons. For every ninja clan that is given land, we must spawn another clan to take their place. Instead we decided to have a number of historical ninja clans be just that the entire game. The second reason, and this goes for the rest of your post: it's not that it's bad ideas, it's just that somewhere you need to draw the line and realize that you have more features than you can chew, and instead put your energy to properly implement the ones that you've already decided upon before adding more. Creativity is never the bottleneck - it's always time, money and manpower.

Ninja were not ronin, or samurai wandering about looking for a Lord to serve. Rather, ninja were trained mercenaries for hire, using a complex system of go-betweens and fixers to find contracts to be hired through. They specialized in covert operations, which could be as dangerous as assassination and arson, or simpler contracts like intelligence-gathering, corruption, bodyguard duties, or arranging treasons in the enemy's camp. And they would also gather intelligence on their own, and sell it for a price.

Yet, they were indeed samurai, in so far that they would be part of the warrior caste, even though most of them were farmers or ji-samurai. Remember that at the time, the frontier between being samurai and not was tenuous at best, even peasants could wear a sword and use it to fight.

Did individual ninja serve as vassals? Certainly, some did cross the floor. And some samurai who were "normal" retainers did have some preference for doing things covertly. Hanzo Hattori had very good connections with the Iga ninja community, yet he was a vassal of Tokugawa Ieyasu. Also, ninja groups did have their preference and gave advantageous service to certain lords depending of their relationship.

It looks good. I am curious what does it cost to make use of some ninja clan. Am I right when I think that there is one upfront cost while recruiting clan and than cost in ducates or whatever to perform specific mission? If a mission is succesful it does not cost any honor?

Should not be same cost for taking and rescuing hostages?

A bit of off-topic :D :wacko::
Map is amazing and I like graphics too. Good thing that the map is without Hokkaido island - it seems to have more historical feeling - do not beat me for it. :cool:

Edit: Maybe in possible expansion for sengoku game could be particular ninja clans characters. Is there enough available information about historical personalities in such clans?

So that we can prepare for Sengoku, can we get the system spec requirements?

I know this game has yet a month+ before it is released, but on paradoxplaza.com there are other games with more distant tentative release dates which have displayed for them the system requirements. Knights Crusasde II for example set for release Q1 2012 shows system specs, but for Sengoku for release 9/13/2011 has no specs.

Thanks. I'm really looking forward to this one, and Crusades II, and King Arthur II and, and, and, and......lol

My guess is that it will require something similar to CKII.

According to time I spent actually living in Japan and studying there, there isn't a lot known about Ninjas. Certainly not enough to claim historical accuracy or lack of. I don't mind a bit of fiction in a game though or TV or movies or books.. :)
