I recently bought Sengoku because I enjoyed Crusader Kings II quite a bit but was getting a bit tired of Europe. I've enjoyed the game, but I'm a little disappointed that it is basically all warfare all the time. However, given Japan's history and much smaller size, it's hard to imagine what else Paradox could've done with the setting.

Then it hit me: an RPG! Jettison the strategic elements (at least as far as the player can see; it could be interesting to have the AI running in the background) add more character stats and skills, and let the player control a ronin samurai as he wanders Japan, going on adventures, helping people, and earning honor. The game would be event-based, so--much like board games like Arkham Horror--as you move around the map you encounter situations that you must deal with via behind-the-scenes dice rolls. They could go full Darklands and actually have oni and spirits and whatnot, or try to be reasonably historically accurate. The objective of the game would be to accrue the highest honor (and maybe wealth) possible.

I think that there's a real audience for this, if for no other reason than Paradox have created one through their event-based games. Think about how excited people were when they heard about the adventuring characters in the upcoming Old Gods DLC and how disappointed they were when they discovered they weren't playable! Plus, there's tons of room for expansions, from more events to new character types (ninja anyone?).

Anyone else have an opinion on this? Is it crazy? Am I overestimating the potential audience for this? Is there any way to suggest this to the company directly so that maybe, just maybe, the idea will take root?
