Serial number already registered

Today I bought the game second hand in a retail store. I entered the activation code on the back of the manual and my email adress and was told that the "Serial number already registered".

So how do I go round it. I own the original with the box, manual and cd now. Can´t the system automatically disable the previous account and let the latest attempt succeed or is it impossible to resell this game and I have to demand a refund ?

I´ve mailed Stardock support (though the game is not bought by digital download) and they say they don´t distribute the game so I don´t know which support to turn to.

We don't officially support 2nd hand copies. The serial key is paired with original buyer's email address and the game won't activate with any other address. I PM'd you some more info.

The message means that your serial is already registered with another email address. If you have previously activated the game you must use the same email address again when activating. If you haven't activated the game before or you think you may have mistyped the email address you should contact our official support at Stardock: http://www.stardock.com/support/
