I have encountered a serious bug that will delete any save game I load in the game. I've had this happen four times (lost ~15 saves), and I believe I know the conditions that cause it to occur.

- First time around Janurary, again in Feb, April and today
Notable conditions:
I've had the game for a long time, so my save file is rather large (above the 512Mib limit for Xbox cloud sync). This may not be relevant.
The bug appears to occur when (for whatever reason) my Internet connection is 'connected' but down - e.g., the console cannot connect to Xbox live but does register a network (wired) connection. I suspect this is critical to the bug.
Steps:
I turn on the console, and do not notice that it's in a semi-offline state. (A 'trying to connect' state?). A fully offline state is more noticable on the Xbox frontend (I've checked - this bug doesn't reproduce if you disconnect). I think this is key.
I start the game.
Normally, the first thing I see (before the paradox logo) is an Xbox system prompt about which savefile to use (the local one, or the old online backup - my local save is too large to upload, so it nags me each time). I always use the local one.
Notably, each time this bug has occurred this dialog has not appeared, so I presume it automatically chooses the local one.
Once you are in the main menu, the bug is now very easy to reproduce - you just load any save game.
The game will load correctly, however what you don't notice is that it's now deleted. Auto or manual saving won't recreate it - it's gone.
Any further games you load also get deleted forever.
This makes save-scumming quite a confusing experience.
