The service life of a ship at all times was small and usually did not exceed 20-30 years. This figure applies to almost all eras without exception. The navies of developed countries try to respect the age limits of their warships. Availability of short-term and long-term fleet development plans ensures slow but continuous renewal of the ship fleet.
Decommissioned ships are often transferred or sold to less affluent allies. What happens afterward, with few exceptions, has nothing to do with actual combat service. The ships continue to rust, leaving the docks less and less often. When the patience of the country's political leadership runs out, they are dismantled for metal.
Based on history, most 1st rank ships are rarely more than 30 years old. With outstanding capabilities and innovative solutions noted at the time of launch, ships can last several years longer. Under the full responsibility of all who make such decisions.
I propose to add a variable to the game that would determine the launch date of each game ship and its maximum age, after which the ship would be automatically removed from the fleet of a particular country. This feature would be very useful for all global game mods that cover a time span of more than 30-40 years.
I propose to introduce the following terms of service for warships:
Destroyers and submarines - 20 years
Light and heavy cruisers - 25 years
Line ships, line cruisers and aircraft carriers - 30 years.
Participation of a country in the war will allow adding additional 2-3 years to the service life of such obsolete ships, but at the cost of a significant penalty to the combat capabilities of the ship and a small penalty to the war support of this country.
