I bought the game during the Steam sale for myself and a friend. We've been trying to host a game over Hamachi but to no avail. The game just does not detect the other person's game in the LAN browser.

Best regards.

I tired using game ranger. A friendly player join us to help although he couldn't get it running. Now what happened was that when the host pressed start in the game ranger lobby/chatroom, the host's game would start. Everybody else is just stuck on waiting for host. We couldn't get past that. Maybe it's a problem on steam's end?

My friend and me use Steam's version of AOD and it works fine. I have a GameRanger prob. with DH too, which is noted in the Multiplayer sub forum. But I don't think it has anything to do with Steam.

Best regards.

When i use hamachi i have to turn my firewall off and when i host the other player has to connect with the internet option and type MY hamachi ip number in. Hope this helps you get it working cause it deffinatly works for me.

Still nothing. We used hamachi, the game was set on administrator, it was launched through the application rather than steam. I gave him the IP and all he got was the " no host found message."

did he have his firewall off aswell? Also i take it you know how to use hamachi. you set up a network, you tell your friend to join it then you try and ping each other. Then if there are no problems you should be gd 2 go.

Alright, well my friend did some things to his router and firewall to make a mine craft server and now I can connect. But when I get into the room, it shows it as 1 player in the lobby and no scenario selected. He can read my messages yet I can't read his.

I am also having problems with Hamachi we have the same version and the same check sum but with no luck, we also tried direct IP with the same result the firewall was disabled when we tried we are at a loss of where to go from her pinging each other was no problem ether

-Thanks Small

HoI2, and i guess DH didn't show local game at hamachi, unlike EU2.
So you need to enter local IP address of host - then no problem. You can see at hamachi window IP address of host against his nickname.

Gameranger problem - "host is loading game, some of other clients are not or crashing" existing, and we refused from GameRanger when we tried AoD.
Also this problem is happened if someone loaded save game, pick country, and other didn't load yet, and after they loaded - they don't see selected countries for others.

So, use following simple rules:
1. Noone picks country before host.
2. Host picks up the country after all downloaded the savefile.
