While testing the game as Germany I found several model naimng issues, especially for german aircraft.
I'll list them only once, other nations having using these modles may also be affected.

Currently the format used is Messershmitt Me-262 or Bf.109t. Both formats are incorrect, the correct naming format would be Messerschmitt Bf 109 or Messerschmitt Bf 109E or Messerschmitt Bf 109 E-3 (depending of how much subversion detail is used).

The Bf 109F is somewhere called Fritz or Franz but according to the spoken alphabet used by the Wehrmacht/Luftwaffe this has to be Friedrich.

I suggest to remove aircraft nicknames from foreign customers or replace them with their local nickname (if existing). I don't think the Hungarians use german or italian nicknames for their aircraft. The italians for example named the Ju 87

The german in-production cruiser "Graf Spee" needs to be renamed to "Admiral Graf Spee"

from models.csv:
MODEL_GER_13_9;Lippish Li.P13a
-> constructor name is Lippisch, project designation was P.13, correct name would be Lippisch P.13

MODEL_GER_13_7;Heinkel He-162 Salamander
-> Salamander was only the project name during development, production aircraft were called "Spatz" bei Heinkel, officials from RLM forced them to use "Volksjäger".

MODEL_GER_5_5;PzKpfw.VF Panther II
MODEL_HUN_5_5;PzKpfw.VF Panther II
-> the Panzerkampfwagen Panther Ausführung F was not the Panther II, it was a slightly modified Panther chassis with a new "Schmalturm" turret (looking similar to the one used by the Tiger II). It had improved armor and it was planned to use the long 88mm gun of the Tiger II as optional upgrade.

MODEL_GER_12_4;Go-229
BRIG_MODEL_GER_15_4;Gotha Go-229
-> completely wrong designation, use either the deveopment designation of Horten Ho.IX or the RLM designation Horten Ho 229, the aircraft would have been named by the constructers and not by the factory it was to be assembled in.

MODEL_GER_15_0;Junkers Ju-52
-> please use Junkers Ju 52/3m (3m = 3 Motoren = 3 engines)as this was the orrect designation, the original Ju 52 with only one engine had a very short life and was retroactively renamed Ju 52/1m

MODEL_GER_16_3;Junkers Ju-287 EF-140
-> Junkers Ju 287 would be enough here, the progect designation EF.140 is not needed as it had already the RLM number 287 assigned.

MODEL_GER_25_6;Lutjens-class
-> Lütjens-class

MODEL_GER_20_1;V2A9
-> should be renamed V2A4b, the A4b was an enlarged version of the A4 with more range, A9 was only used for future plans using the A10 as launch and initial accelerator component and an improved A4b (named A9) as ballistic missicle with large warhead. This V2 was named A9/A10 during development.

BRIG_MODEL_GER_6_2;Hetzer
->Official name was Jagdpanzer 38(t), Hetzer was to be used for the improved version Jagdpanzer 38(d) (lengthened, widened, stronger engine, probably a larger gun). At best was Hetzer something unofficially used.

BRIG_MODEL_GER_8_2;PzKpfw.VIB Konigstiger
-> Either Königstiger or Tiger II

BRIG_MODEL_GER_10_0;SdKfz-231
-> Sd.Kfz. 231

BRIG_MODEL_GER_14_4;Me.155 / Ju.87C Stuka
-> The Me 155 may be a little early but either in this brigade modle or one later the Ju 87C should be replaced with the Ju 87T (navalized version of the Ju 87D).

MODEL_ITA_17_1;Junkers Ju.87D Picchiarello
-> Correct name is "Picchiatello"

MODEL_ITA_13_3;Reggiane RE.2001
-> Re.2001 (second letter lowercase)

MODEL_ITA_4_2;L.6/40 (and similar italian tanks)
-> I do not see any source supporting this naming, should be L6/40 or M15/42 etc

MODEL_ITA_13_8;Fiat G-91R
-> Fiat G.91

MODEL_JAP_13_2;Nakajima Ki-43 Haybusa
-> Hayabusa

MODEL_JAP_16_1;Mitsubishi G4M Ishikkiro
-> Do you have a source for this name? Should be either nothing or Hamaki.

BRIG_MODEL_JAP_14_2;A5M Claude / D1A2 Susie / B2M1
BRIG_MODEL_JAP_14_3;A6M2 Reisen / D3A1 Val / B5N1 Kate
-> Please do not use allied codenames like Claude, Susie, Val or Kate, the D3A may have been named "Kanbaku", no local name for the others known (at least from my side)

BRIG_MODEL_JAP_14_7;A7M2 Reppu / B7A2;
-> The B7 was called "Ryusei"

MODEL_CZE_13_0;Avia B.534 (and similar Avia aircraft)
-> Avia used a "-" as separator, only Aero used a "." as separator. Avia B-534 would be the correct name.

Sparviero;SIAI-Marchetti SM.79 Sparviero
-> Should be Savoia-Marchetti SM.79 but without the italian nickname

MODEL_USA_17_0;Douglas A-24
-> The army version of the SBD Dauntless was called A-24 Banshee

MODEL_USA_17_1;Curtiss A-25
-> the army version of the SB2C Helldiver was to be called A-25 Shrike

MODEL_USA_18_1;Douglas C-47 Dakota
-> US naming was C-47 Skytrain, Dakota was the RAF name for it.

It seems that we've to wait for v1.06 ...

OK, I didn't have the time to check the models.csv file: Have your fixes actually been included in the most recent 1.06A3 beta patch? ;)

Attached a version based on 1.05 RC3.

Please have a look at the japanese division model list, almost in every section the last entry is wrong, model of the line above or below.

I compared - by using winmerge - your models.csv with the one included in the most v1.06A3 beta patch and I'm very impressed! :) A very minor gripe is that you messed up very few ship classes by replacing 'Do-' with 'Do '. I'll use your file as a base for my own project to include more of the missing models. Well done. :)

I've checked the japanese models. Starting from model 15 up to model 27 the russian translation was one line off - fixed. ;)

I've removed some E-50 and P. remnants. ;) I'll also include some missing unit models. Maybe I'll find some more helpful hints here in the bug forum...

Cool, thanks. Can we expect this time that your changes will be included in the next beta patch? :confused:

Didn't notice that ones; at first, I thought you were referring to some airplane models I've changed from Denniss' latest models.csv file in order to find icons for them. :)

I'll update this and put it in the Corrections file (first post here).

EDIT: in my file almost all names were already correct; I've updated the two or three with typos. By the way, Denniss, would you agree to use my models.csv as the new standard for AoD? You (and the AoD devs) can find the pictures and icons for the models I've changed in my Tripartite Pack mod as well as in the Corrections file just below TP's main dowload link.

this plane was builded by Weiss Manfréd co. [http://hu.wikipedia.org/wiki/Weiss_Manfréd_Acél-_és_Fémművek]
the model was refered as WM-23 [http://hu.wikipedia.org/wiki/WM–23]
and it's hungarian nickname (Silver Arrow) is spelled correctly as "Ezüst Nyíl" [http://www.masodikvh.hu/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=1410&Itemid=359]

To make it short it's correct name is "WM-23 Ezüst Nyíl" afaik.

As you already have discovered these typos are not necessarily part of your models.csv. Funnily, your file was correct in several instances. A program like winmerge is very helpful in highlighting such obvious differences. ;)

I'll update this and put it in the Corrections file (first post here).

It's very useful for the users of your mod if your models.csv file is same as the official one. But this doesn't necessarily mean that all your changes should be made official so that it fits. Plausible changes/improvements or bug fixes are a welcome addition to the official models.csv file.

+1

Would you like to check the other hungarian entries if they have the correct spelling?

okay, i can look into it, but things are really messed up now in the hungarian models and their names.
There are a lot of misspellings, mostly because of the hungarian special characters: áíűőüöúóé
There are some model names which didn't exists, for example there was no 38M Toldi II. The first of this light tank model was called 38M Toldi I, and it's upgraded version was 42M Toldi II .
There are some model names which were never used in ww2, for example WM-16 Budapest was only a training plane (officially retired in '39, so it can be a basic(37) cas), WM-21 Sólyom was used instead.
There are some models worth mentioning, which are not included, for example the 39M Csaba armoured car (pic), and the Straussler V–3 light or 44M Tas heavy tank.

So, am i only to correct misspellings or alter,add,etc. their names?

Well, all of my changes are plausible. You can check it by yourself :) (or I can send you a brief list of the models I've changed - they're not many. In addition, almost always I've just swapped them e.g. from Fig to Int, so the planes models are really always the same).

Bottom line: if the devs would like to implement this corrected and a bit renewed models.csv file to AoD it would be nice.

so, what about the hungarian models? do you need me to correct their names?
if so, where should i make the changes (in the file, attached to this thread or simply write it here as a post?)
