Greetings all,

I love HOI2. I want to improve HOI2 to make it an even better game than it already is, as I demonstrate with my many mods to enhance the experience. I'd like to start a new project, but this time do little or none of the work, just organize. I'm too busy with SMEP and my other projects to do all the work on this one, but I feel it needs done.

As you might have guessed from the title, my aim is to improve the sound effects of HOI2, which make my manhood shrink.

I want better sounds. I want sounds that really remind me of war, but are so generic that I won't get sick of them. I want bass, I want clarity. I want something that grabs me by the pants and plunges me deep into the ocean of gameplay HOI2 offers.

Who is interested?​

The sound files for hoi2 can be found in the hoi2\sfx\wave folder. There aren't that many, I think we can do this if we put our heads together!

Could you elaborate, though? Where did the sound effects come from? Did you create them? If so, do you have sound editing skills? Etc, etc, etc...

I'm trying to figure the order in which these sounds are played in battle, to mod them for the 1914 mod. I have an experiment in mind to figure it out, and as soon as I get some time I'll try it. Depending on my level of sucess with it, I'd be more than glad to share the results with you folks!
 
okay i emailed you my sounds for land combat, theyre origin is the campaign series and i edited them to fit with hoi2

That´s nothing, I can imitate machine guns, rifles, stuka dive bombers, air raid sirens, artillery and so on and so forth. :D
 
I could do a "buuuuh" sound with mine, if i would listen to yours :D
But enough joked, i think that it's a pretty good idea to replace the sound files.

An excellent idea! How about also combining it will country/nationally specific music packs?

I'm sure that if everyone put their heads/non-copyrighted MP3 files together, then this could be done pretty quickly, and would enhance the game's atmosphere massively!
 
Do you have cleaner copies? The ones above have a lot of high frequency noise in them.

Hi AstroCat,

I'm looking for more fidelity than that. I want clarity, bass... realism. My THX speakers simply don't like the default HOI sounds, and although what you posted is a slight improvement, there is so much more potential.

I'm really out of ideas and this project hasn't seemed to generate much interest at all. Has no one any audiological skills on the Paradox forums? :(
 
I agree there are better SFX samples that we could put in there but we have to remember with the way the sound engine works we are very limited to what we can do. I have done more but because of the way the SFX are triggered you have to be careful or it just turns in to a mess.

I have a huge "war sounds" library, if I have time I'll dig in to and find some "real" SFX.

In my pack I changed several of the sfx, including selection, movement, bombing, ground attack, etc... although I admit in a quick manor.

I'm all for better SFX believe me, I do game/interactive/multimedia sound for a living, it's just that this engine is very limiting.

Some new sounds would be groovey...perhaps even fantabulous in conjunction with a mod that protracts battle somewhat. Hope this project takes off. :)
 
Have also new sounds for all aircraft movements and battle etc but somehow could need bit rework as well..
 
Hello, I do not know if it is late, but I´m work at a mod to change the sounds of the HoI 2.
Sorry, I do not know the English language, I use a translator to be able to write.
Simply I have joined sounds of movies, of other games, have modified them with Wave Lab and his plug-ins.
The only problem is that I do not know as the game uses them to reproduce them and in that moment each one.
