Okay, I fixed the CTD problem by downloading new drivers for my GPU and Sound card.

But now I have a damn sound problem that I didn't have with my old driver. Once I load up the game, I can only click on a province once before the 'click' sound you get from clicking on a province disapears from the game completelty. It's a nice sound and It's a nuisance to lose it.

Any ideas what's wrong?

Thanks.

The SFX problem is still there though.

did you try the previous suggestion?

I did, it didn't work.

usually, #17 does it...

I will search for something and be back in a few days (sunday night, most probably)

Thanks.

I'm not sure if this is a game bug or not. Over the years I've found several programs that have this sound problem or bad corruption when playing certain sounds. Anyway, if you go to your Multimedia Properties (which on win98 can be found at - Start>Settings>Control Panel>Multimedia>Audio>Advanced Properties>Performance) you'll find a control that says Hardware Acceleration. Its default is Full Acceleration. Turn it down until it says Basic Acceleration. Now you should get a sound any time there is supposed to be one in the game.

try searching Creative Labs web site, they have a knowledge base and with the right product description, you should be able to find the instructions on how to manually uninstall the drivers of your sound card. then reinstall the newest ones.

You might want to update the drivers for the motherboard as well as your BIOS.
