Yeah, I know. Haven't gotten to the tech files themselves yet. I'll be doing a lot of experimenting to figure where I can put any new techs, etc. Thanks for the heads up though.

The EU is... special. No claims on the mainland is a given, but should it remain that way? Perhaps enough successive victory could win the hearts and minds of Americans, perhaps via the events for the EU discussed in the past?

And yes, the EU should remain that way. I don't think anyone (beyond the typical collaborating scum that can be found anywhere) would support a EU take over.

I think the quote form TairosAurelius is a possible outcome of the way things may go.
However, even in the case of a breakup of the US, there will be in every part many people who will remember the time of "greatness" and long back to that period.
Any faction that both:
1) Gains enough prominence to suggest the unification is possible
2) Suggests that any newly incorporated areas will be treated equally,
might well get the support of this demographic. That has nothing to do with collaborating scum, but more with people loyal to the former US or extremely dissatisfied with the current home regime.

I would suggest for each "country" a couple of annexation events.
If a country is annexeble/annexed by another, the following question should be asked: How should we treat the newly gained territories:
1) They have to be educated in the proper ways before gaining prominence
2) They are equals.

In case of American states, have both option give Core, but furthers the following differences:
For (1)
(a) Other states get a Mass exodus event that gives them manpower and industry (perhaps industrial efficiency would be better?) The new owner country gets 5% dissent (insulting federalist opinion in own area) and say x% partisans and perhaps 1 random tech team?
For (2) The new owner gets 15% dissent (insulting nationalist opionion in both old and new areas) and no partisans and perhaps 2 random tech teams?

Depending on initial outlook of a state chances of choice could differ, say a totalitarian state prefers (1) and democratic states choose (2)

The EU should at the start of the scenario decide whether they want to form a new US or a new colonial state/Dominion. It is assumed that this will be reflected in local policies.
New US will give, say, 10% dissent. New Dominion will give x% partisans (10%) everywhere.
The choice "US/Dominion" will also changes the EU chances in annexation policies.
For (1) do as above, but add an extra % of partisans in ALL provinces, as the already occupied population feel more bold when the occupied area becomes bigger.
For (2) Give perhaps a larger dissent hit as for the time being, "Euroweenies" are topdog. In this case give a low manpower addition to state neigbouring the annexed state, as "mountainmen" choose to fight on from outside.

Great ideas, all. I just got back from a long weekend in Georgia, so work was held up a bit. I shall continue on, and incorporate new thoughts. I'm working in tandem on events and tech teams still, so this will be a while yet.

If anyone can work on leaders/ministers, for ANY _North American_ nation, that'd be great.

New question:

What should be "urban?"

Which cities should have a nice little province picture and which should not? Obviously some sort of standard is needed, because if every strictly urban area were considered urban in the game, most of America would be solid urban terrain, which is plainly inaccurate.

Perhaps a population standard? I'm really not sure.

I'd say just keep the provinces that are urban. As I said in another thread, most provinces named after big cities are much larger than the cities themselves, and thus would be mostly plains or whatever. Compare Stalingrad to Houston, for example.

I'd say that any cities that are "World Cities" would be okay for urban terrain. These cities can be found HERE and include Alpha, Beta, and Gamma class cities.
American cities on the list, by "points", from highest to lowest:
  • New York
  • Chicago
  • Los Angeles
  • San Fransisco
  • Toronto (Canadian)
  • Mexico City (Mexican)
  • Boston
  • Dallas
  • Houston
  • Washington, D.C. (Nuked)
  • Montreal (Canadian)
  • Atlanta
  • Minneanapolis

Thanks for that list, it told me just what I wanted to hear. :)

I appreciate that, as I must admit, I've considered dropping the project more than once, so such encouragement is more than awesome. I'll probably release a test version to a few people who wish to test it out, make suggestions, etc. This would be in the next month I suppose, and would be raw at best. I still have these items (and some loose ends) to complete:

- The AI files for 3/4 of the countries
- Tech teams for 3/4 of the countries
- Techs, tech tree, and tech pics
- Ministers and leaders

If you want to contribute something to these hurdles to speed up some progress, even a simple website with good info or just an idea to speed things up, post here or e-mail me.

Thanks, -Rob

P.S. Pics for your viewing pleasure!

mean this looks awesome is it on DD (please say yes) and if theres anything you still need done that doesn't include modding im happy to help

Looking very nice, the colour pictures really help.

Jalex, I'm sorry to say it is not available on DD. HOWEVER! Do not lose hope, Christmas approaches, and DD is soon to be had! Porting it can't be TOO hard...

Hmmm. Well, the things I have left to do are mostly just modding, yes. Honestly, just spreading around the fact that my mod is around would be cool, word of mouth is nice, and I don't have time to forum-surf, else I'd never be modding!

Thanks again.

Yet more pictures to tantalize you with my newest triumph: a proper loading screen! Also includes the Alaskan event sequence, for kicks and giggles.

Click to see the larger images, it's worth it.

The country selection, and Russia's "propaganda poster" (rather cool if you ask me).

The new loading screen, just recently completed.

Russia's initial, somewhat sad, setup.

The event firing, selecting the most generous terms.

An acceptance! Alaska is ours!

The game conclusion screen with new alliance box thingies.

Hope you enjoy.

a litle question is this mod for a total world or is it just only usa tertory?

Pretty much the North American continent, Mexico and Cuba at the moment.

Quite right, it is limited to North America, perhaps some of South America (I'm contemplating adding Venezuela, to add more oil to the scenario and so that players can crush Hugo if they wish). If the mod is a hit when released, I will begin expanding it into a full-world one. For now, however, I have enough on my hands with one continent!

Just to let you know, I'm still planning on doing my unit names and such. I just procrastinate alot. I've gotten a bit of Texas done, at least. :eek:o
