On PC with Steam. Not running any mods, but using all DLC and expansion packs, running 3.7.3

This has happened in single player and multiplayer as well. Got the Grand Herald last playthrough but it seems more interested in running away then fighting, like the second the enemy gets remotely close it just turns around and hauls away, even while being shot at. Sometimes it just fires it's X weapon at the sun before flying around in circles. Smaller ships like corvettes fly normal until they enter the engagement zone, at which point that fly towards the sun and then fly around in circles. They fire missiles sometimes but that's it. Most of the enemies do the same thing, and the result is combat that takes literally forever to resolve and is totally unpredictable. My Grand Herald was killed by a single Space Amoeba for example. Another time a 7k vs 4k battle ended with 50% losses for me, and at the end my Trickster Admiral leveled up and gained a second Trickster trait...

The last version I played was 3.5.3, and a similar bug happened rarely back then but was fixable by a reload. This bug persists over all combat no matter what, no matter how often I reload, in both multiplayer and single player. I verified all files succesfully on Steam so I am totally lost on how to solve this. The game isn't playable in this state, can anyone help?

Please do a full **clean** re-install:

- move any valued save games elsewhere, and user empire designs.txt from /Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris/ if you have made any custom empires or races.
- "uninstall" in Steam-Stellaris
- manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/Stellaris AND Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris folders - In particular you need to make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam Stellaris or Documents Stellaris locations, before installing again.
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
- add stellaris.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list.
- start the game with no mods active and test with a new galaxy, NOT any existing one.

Is that any better?
