I suppose I should post this here...

As far as I can tell, only the two battleship classes (Battleships and Dreadnoughts) have any shore bombardment capability, even if other ships are given higher bombardment points. I scripted an event to do this (add +15 to each ship class), and even having Cruisers or Ironclads with a shore bombardment value of 100 seemed to have no effect on land battles.

I'm running 1.03, with VIP installed (but that shouldn't effect this).

To be honest, I never noticed if that was the case or not. It certainly is in Victoria, though.
