In my manual and my buttons.txt, I see that "g" should merge armies. But it doesn't seem to work for me. Am I doing it right? I assume it means that if you have an army (or fleet) selected, and there are other armies also in the province, they are all combined together into one army, right? Simple as that? If so, I wonder what's wrong. This is with 1.08 vanilla and WinXP.

Also I notice buttons.txt calls F3 and F4 quicksave and quickload, but I don't see it in the manual and it doesn't work. Is there any way to go this to work?

Thanks!!

Do you have an F Lock key on your keyboard.
The g should work anytime the merge button would.

No. You need to select all the armies you wish to merge first, as the game has no way of knowning this. Shift-click on the bars below the army picture of the armies you want, then do G.

Eureka! That's what I was missing, Andrew!

Actually most of the time I just want them all lumped together so I can "start anew". So that's what I figured it must be supposed to do. Anyway, this'll help!

So, the quickload and save doesn't work?

You did not answer my question. ;)

No higher end keyboards have it to double the number of function keys, I t acts like a shift lock for function keys.

If you want to select all armies in a province just click-drag with the mouse around it then hit the G.

Never used or tried the f3/f4 keys, but in any case you do not want to do this - loading a save game within the game does not re-initialise memory properly and you get holdovers and other oddities. Always exit to the initial menu and load from there.

Quick save would be handy though.

Andrew, that's got it! Just what I was looking for. w00t, the best of both worlds! - both merging them separately or collectively are quite easy, now.

I never knew that I should go to the main menu to load a game. Are the possible problems severe?

Wow, where do you guys learn all these things from? hehe

Not usually but enough so that they removed the in-game load feature in later games.
