I finally bought CK yesterday when I saw that Gamersgate had 50% off on the mac-version. I have been waiting a long time for the price to go down, not that I´m cheap or anything :)

So I have a few question before I start.

1. Is the manual still a good read? Paradox games often change so much over time so the manual gets almost obsolete.

2. Do the mods work on the mac-version?

3. What mods are worth downloading (when I have played vanilla for some time)? Or is vanilla good enough?

I skimmed the manual in a very limited way, and I'm doing fine at the game.

Granted, I find that the period where I'm figuring them out is the most fun for me, and then I tend to get bored with them once I understand how they work. So for me, puzzling through them in-game is a large part of the fun.

You can read it quickly, the best thing is to play and ask questions.

I do not know if you have DV or only CK, for Deus Vult DVIP works quite well on my mac though some events make it crash (I use the vanilla break free events to reduce this but still have some problems sometimes), TASS does not work. Kingdoms of Arnor works.

DVIP is worth downloading.

Thanks guys.

I bought the complete version with DV. I´ll try DVIP when I get bored with vanilla.

On the manual thing, it really depends how much you've read on the forums. It does explain some of the basic stuff about the King-Duke-Count tiers, bishoprics, and goes through the trait system a bit, those parts haven't become too obsolete. I'd recommend a quick skim on some bus trip at least, but if you already pretty much know what sort of game it is, that should be plenty. Reading it too well isn't useful, since the details at least are obsolete.
