That's the entire point. If one of the parents or grandparents was X then there is a chance that the child may have the characteristics of X.

That doesn't make the children not of their culture.

i agree with you. i mean its simple genetics that the child will look somewhat of the mixture of the two. So what Chooses the Culture of the offspring? is it the Male parent or the Ruler?

The male parent decides the culture of the child (except in the cases of matrilineal marriages I think...could be wrong about this part).

The "dominant" spouse determines the child's culture, religion and dynasty.

About this whole mixing thing: I'm currently playing in the Summer Islands. My ruler is black with Lysene wife. Some of my kids end up Sand Dornish because of that. So, to some extent, it's implemented.

Well they will have a beautiful caramel skin color then. i wonder does the dark skin genes water down over time?

That's not how it works in CK2.

If the Father is Culture A and the Mother is Culture C the child will not look like Culture B. It will either look like A or C.
And even if the Parents of further descendants are all Culture A, I believe there is a small chance that the Child will look like Culture C. Though I think only for a few steps down the descendants.

Nope. If an Englishman has a kid with an Ethiopian, the kid can turn to be "Turkish" or "Bedouin".

In case of my game, nope. Fully Summer Isladner/Lysene bloodline.

You mean the graphical culture i.e. the look of the portrait? Actually for children of mixed marriages it does pick "intermediate" graphical cultures often.
For each graphical culture there is a "darkness" value in the game files, a number between 0 and 4 IIRC, with 0 being Celtics, 1 the default European portraits, etc and 4 african portraits. This is how the game sometimes gives children of a white parent and a black parent Arab looks.

I wonder if this is also the way it determines the Valyrian Traits or Blood of Valyria?

Not quite the same way. Hereditary traits don't come in levels from 1 to 4, like skin "darkness". But of course the game does dice rolls for traits, too, when a child is born, and determines which of the parents' traits get passed on.

You would imagine that the genetic traits would pass on a bit more than they do. Especially of both parents are carrying the same trait.
