Playing as Siberia Im setting up this pretty short AAR to give me a break from my longer, more narrative Brandenburg AAR.

My goals are to hack and slash, conqer as much as possible and just to be the terror of mankind. By other words, finish third or better in 1792, counting VP.

1492-1520

Starting with 60.000 men cavalry and a pretty good commander I declare war on Astrakhan as soon I recive a diplomat. The war is short, ending in December 1493 and with the annexation of Astrakhan.

Next target is the Golden horde. Declaring war on them in May 1494 trying to annex them but fail. Instead I get hold of the provinces of Samara and Uralsk. After that Im occupied with kicking some rebell butts.

Oh, by the way. I have pretty low stability after my war declerations, so all my investments goes to increase it.

In February 1502 I declare war once again upon the Golden horde. They defend themself well and Im forced to raise new troops every now and then. In January 1506 they are defeated and annexed.

The time after I have to get medieval with rebells once again. In 1515 I decide to go to war (How should you else be known as the terror of mankind!?). This time Crimea is the target. They fight almost even harder than the Golden horde did. To make things worst Poland, Ryazan and Persia declares war upon me one after another. In 1518 we are able to persuade Crimea to sign a peace where they grant us Kalmuck and Lugansk. Persia kick us bad, so they get Astrakhan from us. Poland signs a WP in 1520 and that same year Ryazan gets Saratov for signing a peace with us. This could seeme like we gained as much as we lost, but thoose damn persians took Astrakhan and Astrakhan held a COT (Remind me to behead the Shah someday in the future).

Map looks like this. (Note: Crimea has the same colour as my fine honorable nation.)

Never played with SIberia....this could be intresting.

Neither have I, but I guess its somewhat like the Golden horde, expect I have less core provinces. On the other hand I seeme to have better monarchs and commanders. As the Golden horde "Steppes clan" ruled the nation in 250 years. Now the Khans at least changes every know and then.

1520-1568

Fighting rebells. They cause some problems. Im forced to raise new troops just to counter their threat.

In 1529 I finaly got stability at top again. Putting all my investments on landtech. From 1541 and forward I pay great sums to Uzbekistan. I realy want thoose guys to like me. In 1545 we are able to arrange a RM with them. We even arrange a RM with the turks in 1551. The year after, all the money we spend, pays off. We create an alliance with Uzbekistan.

In 1553 we exchange maps with Uzbekistan and then we declare war upon Persia. Uzbekistan join us in our holy quest. Wars go fine until Uzbekistan signs a peace on their own. They are granted Kars, Azerbadjan and Khorastan. We se no other choise than signing a peace to. We get Tabriz and Persis.

In 1565 we declare war upon Persia once again. Uzbekistan join us. This time we crush them. We annex the whole thing in July 1568. Uzbekistan gets Lut. We got the rest. The Shah is of course beheaded.

Looking at the map you can see that a northern and a southern part of the nation have been formed, with Uzbekistan right in the middle.

Lots of progress, but be careful about dividing your nation that way. Instead of having enemies on four sides, you now have them on eight...

Mmm, I have thought of taking out Uzbekistan, but thoose guys realy love me and they are the only one that does. Some other options is going east, trying to behead the great Moghul himself, Oman taking their COT or watch for an oppertunity to hit the turks in the back while they are occupied in Europe. Russia and Poland are other options but Im afraid Im to late for that now. They probably kick my ass. :(

I think you're in a bad position.

Are you and the Uzbeks the same state religion? If so, and if you have a king with decent diplomacy, you should try to marry and vassalize them. That opens the possibility of diploannexation in the far future, as well as allowing you to move through their lands even in peacetime...

Yes we are dedicated followers of Muhammed both of us. All heretics, like shia muslims, as been exterminated with the annexation of Persia by us and the Mamlukes by the turks. I will have that vassalship in mind, but Im thinking of trying something whole new. This is the plan:

I let the Moghuls like me so much that they join my alliance, after that I exchange maps with them and oops find out some indian nations to the south of the Moghul empire. I declare war upon them and Uzbekistan and Moghul join me. As the forces of the Moghul empire will invade thoose indian nations I will let my own forces go into the Moghul empire, then I turn on my ally, declare war upon Moghul empire (hopefully get Uzbekistan to join me) and hit him in the back while he is occupied in the south.

What you guys think will it work!? :D

It's risky. I've tried something like that once, and the entire alliance turned on me! And that included Spain, Austria and Poland. I was playing as Hungary, and DOWed Bohemia.

Needless to say, it was a short war, all bad. hahaha.

Specifically, it's a bad idea because:

(a) As Dale said, the other members of your alliance will hate you.

(b) Your stability will plummet and BB will rise from breaking the alliance and declaring war without cause. Revolts will probably break out quickly...

(c) You are not that close to the Mughal and only have half your country to draw from. The Mughal will be defending on home terrain. Even if you manage to time it just right and smother all their lands simultaneously, they can break the siege with one of their armies returning from the south and ruin your plans.

(d) If they haven't had a war yet, they will have a huge starting army. Even if that army is gone, if it takes you too long to declare the war and get into position, they may have built a sizable army for the new war.

(e) You will still be at war with the first nation you declared on. If they can still reach you in the Mughal lands, you will be fighting them as well...

(f) You've been conquering and annexing enough that I'll bet your BB is already high. If you get into a long war with Hyderabad (for example) and Mughal then you will almost certainly get attacked on your flanks (Turkey, etc...)

On the other hand, learn by doing, I always say...:p

Under cerain circumstances I like the plan, but this is not one of them. You have a strong alliance, but no other friends so you couldn't make a new one. You too spread out in odd directions to cover your arse in a BB war. If uzbeckistan DoW's u with Muhgal then you are hit from your back.

By the way, Yoghurt (and anyone else interested) --

Prufrock451, who just commented above, is one of the upper echelon of writers on the EU2 forum. His tale of Sibir is absolutely incredible, and contains quite a few twists and turns. Even if you don't have EU2 and can't follow some of the game mechanics at first, I highly recommend that you take a look at it. In fact, I was going to recommend it yesterday, before he visited, and just got too lazy.

1568-1591

The time that went by was spend on recruiting troops and foremost, to improve relations with the Moghul empire. It cost a lot of gold and took some time but in 1582 we could arrange a RM with them, followed by an alliance in 1591. We had also begun building a fleet in the Persian Gulf.

This sudden love for the Moghul empire had a purpose, but then, one day, a voice spoke from the sky to the Khan. “I know your intensions and it will not work. It will only end in the destruction of your own people.” So the plan was abandon by the Khan. Instead he figured out a new one.

Morlac, I.A., Dale!

I had already begun spending money on improving my relations with the Moghul empire when I read your advises, so I continued until I got them into the alliance. It could never hurt with another friendly nation :D
