In my current game as the Duke of Aqutaine the Muslims managed to establish a strong hold in Northern England with little opposition. In a prior game, the mongols managed to advance into Sweden. In the same game, Italy became an Arab pennisula in Europe. I made this complain before, but should the muslims be this aggressive and invincible even with the latest patches of DV. Am I alone? because am at my wits end.

People's experience with Muslims differs very much. Since I see a lot of posts on this forum, where people complain about the Muslims being to easily overrun by Christians.
 
You're not alone.

In at least 2/5 of my games I've seen Muslim counties where there shouldn't be any. For instance, I've once seen a Muslim Rome surrounded by a patch-work of Christian/Muslim realms. I've also seen Muslims in Scotland, and Wales.

Thats pretty annoying, especially when the AI does literally nothing about it, and when I have no ambitions in England.
 
I just came here to complain and then I see you already did it for me :D

In my game it's Kingdom of Egypt. With an intrigue of 4 he manages to own 23 (goes up steadily) provinces spread all over the map. Norway and Sweden are practically completely taken over by muslim rulers. Just now Egypt - who is at war with King of Norway, England, France and many lesser rulers - managed to very suddenly beat King of Norway who actually did well in the war and had occupied the many muslim owned provinces in Sweden. Totally unrealistic :mad:
 
The real problem here are one province demesnes, since the AI will always make a beeline to the demesne of its enemies, and once it occupies that one province, it annexes the whole country, immediately establishing a Muslim foothold in the middle of nowhere.

Also, there doesn't seem to exist any limit to how far you can invade from home, so the AI can basically pull this nonsense anywhere on the map, no matter whether its enemies are in Italy or Ireland.
 
The problem (to me) is the shortcuts made to the budgets of the AI (and likely the stability) - they can't go into debt so can afford trips to anywhere and any enemy province. It results in unrealistic and unhistoric outcomes but:

1. It's not going to be fixed (thought the event above regarding controlling the invasions seems a good alternative.)

2. It's a game - some unhistoric outcomes will happen. Make lemonade though - liberating Muslim provinces is fun and profitable. Breathing room for the kids :)
 
Another one of the big reasons why this happens is the lack of naval battles. The fact that a Zirid fleet is easily able to travel all the way to Denmark unhindered is problematic.

Won't stop France of course, but muslim invasions there should remain possible. This will stop the Emir of Sjaelland or Sheik of Essex.

Oh wow! Didn't realize DVIP was still active. Are these events active in the improvement pack?

I might have to dust off CK to play it again after a year or so.
 
I tried it myself, on my borther's lap top, it's CK:DV 2.1beta. I`m not sure if it doesn't work, or the MTTH is screwed, but King of Egypt menaged to send his forces to England, Lincoln. The file is in custom_events.txt. :confused:

Can it be that MTTH of 30 days is not enough ?

Edit: Oh dear, I`m such a noob, I wanted to post this on the thread that is in the link above, for that event that removes regiments from Atlantic .... I didn't realise I`m still on this thread when I clicked reply ...
 
Nice thread. After a long time I`ve started a new game as Count of Frisia and the Emirat of Sevilla is invading Germany. Actually (1116) they control Lübeck, Swabia and parts of Switzerland. :wacko:

I guess, that`s the reason, why I don`t play it that often. Complete nonsense. CK2 is really due.
