I know that this would be ahistorical to the max, but how about France joining axis, trough some weird event chain and them breaking their pact with UK. France's main target would be its oldest enemy, instead of Germany, it would be UK.
Oh well
That's so farfetched, you'd probably have to script those events yourself if you wanted to see them.
I'm assuming that CORE is supposed to be based on plausible alternate realities, and what you propose manages to out-weird the Unholy Alliance, Friendly Hitler, Fascist US, and possibly even the Alien attacks. Under what conditions France would have willingly
A) Joined in an alliance with Germany
or
B) Turned against Britain
I have no idea. France would know from the start that they'd be incapable of putting much of a dent in the Royal Navy, even with the Kriegsmarine at its side. And what France would hope to get out of such a war (maybe a few more colonies in their already overstretched empire), I don't know either.
The mechanics of the war would be disasterous for France (being cut off overnight from its empire and the world market), and the motivations would both strongly suggest that France, in all plausibility, would NEVER have done such a thing. Vichy France, certainly, but not regular France. Again, if you wanted to see such a chain, you'd have to pretty much write it yourself, since the circumstances surrounding such an event chain would have to be explained pretty well.
