That shouldn't be necessary - one would assume that initiating a little unprovoked war of conquest against the Papal States should work nicely. :D

I was thinking the exact same thing. Sacking Rome would surely make the pious catholics of Europe happy :D

No idea. I would guess that it is probably more a visual aid than an attempt at accurate historical representation though. To quote Johan: "It's a game, not a simulation."

Is it possible to create your own pics of people? I imagine it could be done, technically, by changing the codes of people's various bits, should they be accessible. It'd be even better if there was a scenario editor equivalent gifted to us all in one of those wondreful DEPs :D So much hassle saved :D I wanted to know this anyway, but I was thinking, assuming there really hasn't been any research on what people looked like, could a mod be done by the community if they go out, find portraits, create their own and package them?

I doubt you could find many accurate pictures of 11th century rulers. Surviving pictures of the period are (1) rare and (2) stylized. Realistic portraits date to the Renaissance. Realistic statues date to either the Renaissance or Classical Rome/Greece. Neither are in the CK period.
