Returning after a few months to Imperator, I realized that at present state of the game, my biggest gripe was not the gameplay, but rather the UI.

The top of the screen is overcrowded with values and buttons, the buttons take an active visualization effort to distinguish from one another and the white marble style and its brightness is legitimately headache-inducing and distracting for the player.

So, my suggestions for simple tweaks are:

- Place the buttons on the left-hand side of the screen, while leaving the value displays on the top (just like Stellaris)

- Make the button icons simpler and more distinctive from one another (perhaps using easily-recognizable objects and alternating colours)

- Offer a dark colour (e.g. black marble) style alternative

What do you think about the UI rework they are doing for 2.0 in terms of your proposal?

Thanks for linking me those. I hadn't seen them yet :)

Seems they already adopted my 1st point, which is great.

My 2nd point also seems to be partially covered, though an alternating color scheme would still be appreciated.

And regarding the 3rd, the addition of the red title bars does help with providing much needed contrast, but a predominantly darker shade UI alternative would still be very much welcome.
