Hello,

I just picked up CK last Friday and am trying it out. I notice that as in Victoria, they have a tiles.bmp that results in a terrain map that is very detailed, but very resource consuming.

It made me think of a simple mod that was made for Victoria. Basically, all one had to do was rename tile.bmp to something else, then use their modified colorscales.csv, which resulted in simple but functional colors for various terrain types: white=plains, grey=mountains, etc. The main benefit was a marked increase in performance, as the game wasn't swapping in and out all the info in tiles.bmp anymore. Some might also think the simpler terrain map was easier to read than the detailed one, although the rivers were lost. (Frankly, I always thought the level of detail for maps in EU2 and HOI were just fine.)

FYI, the link to the revised Victoria colorscales is still on the VickiWiki at

http://victoria.nsen.ch/wiki/images/d/d5/Colorscales.rar

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone had made a similar modifiedcolorscales.csv for CK. I tried the modified one for Vicki (they look very similar), but the provinces in CK all come up as white. I assume CK uses different color indices that Vicky. (I think they modified the "dark orange" index for Vicky.)

Thanks for any info,

Stilicho
