First off, some context - I have a YouTube playthrough that started back before Rajas of India came out, and rather than scrap the whole thing, I've just been using the version rollback feature in Steam ever since whenever I record a new episode. Since the latest patch, however, what's been happening with the rolled back version is that either the UI elements either come on-screen very very slowly, or else not at all, and more seriously, the client makes my GPU shoot up to 100% usage once it's loaded as far as the title screen. It's also only happening with version 2.0.4, 2.8.1 runs just fine (though I have not tried it with other rolled-back versions of the client). Additionally there's no change in the checksum for version 2.0.4 compared to previously, so I'm really not sure what's going on.

Okay, I think I found the source of the problem - something must have changed with the 2.8.1 graphics settings that was causing the 2.0.4 client to freak the hell out as a result of the settings file. Deleting that resolved the issue, but it seems to me as if rolling back to earlier versions in Steam should create a separate settings file for that client version rather than trying to read from the same one.

When you go back versions you should always manually delete the documents/paradox/ck2/gfx/ folder , plus settings.txt
