I've been following this game for a while now and I couldn't find any information regarding the size of the fleets. I was wondering this because I wanted to know how hardware-requiring it would be. So how many ships and airplanes are in a normal fleet? And how many ships will there be at any given time (every country and ocean)?

It is our express goal that the game will be perfectly playable on normal PCs. Last time I checked, it ran fine on a 3+ year-old Dell xps m1530 laptop.

The size of the fleets will probably be determined more by what makes a good and fun game than the system requirements. Dozens of ships and hundreds of planes works very well in the current pre-alpha (when the shooting starts, add hundreds of missiles). It's certainly enough work for the player to keep track of everything.

It goes without saying that in a mod or skirmish, you will be able to add ridiculous amounts of units, and sooner or later system requirements will be a limiting factor. Also, of course, network performance when you play over the internet.
 
Thanks for the reply. I actually thought it'd be something like Supreme Commander or some such where unless you have the cream of the crop you'd almost be unable to run it but this is exactly what I wanted to hear.
 
Pacific Storm is one of the best WWII naval combat games I have ever played, so I hope NWAC will compare to it! Except for the difference in the time period, of course. :)
 
Timmyvos, it's not going to be anything like Supreme Commander. I liked SupCom (I & II), but thought it was too much about selecting as many screenfuls of units as you could produce and sending then against the enemy in a war of attrition.

The "ball of death" concept simply can't work in NWAC, since weapons are so powerful, and stealth and detection is much less deterministic (well, obviously it is deterministic, this is a computer game, but there are so many factors beyond distance between target and sensor).

Besides, the play area is (potentially) so much larger than in supcom :)

So, would it run fine on a Dual-Core 2.3 GHz processor computer?
