Hello. I recently got a new PC with the following settings:

AMD Ryzen 9 7900X3D (12x 4.4GHz / 5.60GHz Turbo)
MSI PRO B650-S WIFI DDR5
32GB (2x16GB) DDR5 AMD/Intel 6000MHz Kingston Fury Beast
1TB MSI M450 Spatium M.2 PCIe 4.0 x4 NVMe (L 3600MB/s ; S 3000MB/s)
12GB AMD RX 6750XT

So far I basically only played victoria 3 on it and I was a little disappointed by the speed of the late game. I tested the benchmarks from the benchmark thread and got the following results:

1840: medium settings no fps cap: 1:29 min
1900: medium settings no fps cap: 3:35 min

I noticed that those times are slower than the times of other players with similar set-ups. Afterwards I tried the same benchmarks with the integrated graphics card of the cpu and I was a little surprised by the results:

1840: medium settings no fps cap: 1:24 min
1900: medium settings no fps cap: 2:40 min

With the integrated graphics card of the ryzen cpu I improved the benchmark time by almost 1 minute in 1900 compared to the RX 6750XT.
Is this supposed to be like this? Or does this mean that smth is wrong with my RX 6750XT and how should I proceed?

Thanks in advance

As i think you suspect, this is likely to be caused by something outside the game. But let's try the basics:

Right click on victoria3.exe , properties, compatibility. Tick "disable fullScreen optimisations" untick every other box in that dialog, Apply and exit.
Then in the launcher Game Settings menu, select fullScreen display mode, Vsync off, cap refresh rate at 60.

If those don't help:
DXDIAG is a program you run from the Windows search box on the task bar. After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

Please attach here your Documents/Paradox Interactive/Victoria3/pdx_settings.json .
From your Documents/Paradox Interactive/Victoria3/logs/ folder, attach here system.log , error.log , exceptions.txt

Disabling fullscreen optimisations didnt help.

In the logs folder there were was only a system.txt and an error.txt and no exceptions.txt

Game pauses a lot for each frame to ensure stability and lack of graphical glitches.
That is lower FPS means less of this pausing. Set FPS cap to 30 or lower to make game go faster.

As we thought, no obvious cause of this in there.

What fps are you seeing in the game? If over 60 try capping it to that - any better?

Anything overclocked in this setup? If so try undoing that.

And, what results do you get at speed 4 instead of 5?

the fps are usually around 130 when fully zoomed out and 90 when medium zoomed in. If I go down to 60 fps cap it only shows a small improvement of the benchmark. With 30 fps limit I can get down to 2:35 for 1900 and thats the same time no matter the graphic settings (low, med or high). Thats already a great improvement but I am now wondering how other users got better times without fps caps and with similar cpus. Never touched the cpu so its not overclocked or anything.

Well, hardware (CPU, memory, bus) can come from the manufacturer already overclocked - might be worth checking anyway.

Aside from the raw fps numbers does this affect other aspects of the game's performance, such as time passing in-game or jerkiness in zooming or scrolling the map?

And, what results do you get at speed 4 instead of 5? I ask this because speed 5 is different to the others; it is essentially saying to the game "run as fast as the hardware allows regardless of the effects on the game's visuals".

Did you download graphics driver from AMD or are you running what Windows supplied at install?
