I've been having this problem since my OLD computer..

I've deleted the start up movies
I've deleted the music

As Japan my empire stretches from China to North Africa, and i'm allied to Germany and things will literally crawl so slow (It is now October 1944) that the game will all together stop.

My computer should NOT have this problem. Just as my last one shouldn't of..

Windows XP Professional
Amd Athlon 64 4000+
ATI Radeon X800 (256 MB) Pci-Express
Sound Blaster X-Fi
1GB of PC3200 Ram

I have a similar excellent setup. Around 43, the game really gets slow... Simply no use setting it at a high speed. It is not due to your computer, but more due to a core that wasn't designed for so many calculations at the same time... That's my conclusion

(Specs:

Opteron 165
1,5gb ram
6800 LE
Fast harddrives)

Some people with low end systems have no trouble at all and some with highend have problems, never been able to track down exactly what is happening with the systems.
The only advice I can give is to see jpds FAQ opn the subject in the Victoria support forum, everything in it applies equally to HOI2, including renaming the file.

Honestly, this is such a long standing problem with Paradox games I really think they should finally take a look at it. Becuase quite frankly this is much like a long standing bug in the engine that no one has bothered to look at. I enjoy these games just as much and I shouldn't be penalised becuase I have a good system....

The thing is most people with good systems have no problems, it is only a small percentage that have problems, like I say even people like me with a P4 1500 and 512 meg can run without problems.
I know that is not much consulation if you are in the small percentage that experiance this.
The hope for the future is the fact that all future Pdox games are using a the new engine. Again not much comfort for trying to run this one. :(
