And who's going to be the publisher of this new theoretical Wargame?

I'm sorry if this shatters your world view, but Wargame is also pretty much a commercial failure as a series at this point. It's a very niche game that was abandoned by the vast majority of its owner base within days of starting to play - and most of this owner base bought the game while heavily discounted! That's why Eugen had to find a different publisher for SD44 to begin with.

But really, "Wargame 4" supporters have consistently shown themselves to be divorced from reality - expecting that new games can apparently gush forth out of a magic jar without funding from previously successful titles. That's why they are seriously the only Game Community that I know of which tries to brag about its 1,000 concurrent user base instead of realizing it's basically the equivalent of a guy who's been trapped in a coma.

OTOH this is also the same community that wants to pretend that meme-spamming is more important than people who actually try and help teach the game, so really why should they expect anyone to want to play with them?

^^This and I seriously doubt that if we'd have got a WG4 instead of SD, it would have fared any better.

I don't get, why people can't just play the damn game (or not, if they don't like it) and stop trash talk. I mean, there is this other RTS, which I like - Tooth and Tail and it has like average 90 ppl playing daily. And there is no one there whining about ded game and it's really nice and helpful small community.

Does not having a COD levels of players make game bad?

Atm 10vs10 is mostly unplayable cause you lack 20 average players no matter which side you are. There are huge level disparities i see new names every time. Allied players if they good enough may easily rush panzer decks in A and make points. Games are won both sides.
16LW is not really played much, i rarely see one in 10vs10 if i'm not picking it myself so it's not game breaking. But imo you couldn't have more than one or two in a 10vs10 or you would jepoardize your team.

I find that surprising considering how powerful the synergistic effect is when 16LW is combined with a heavy panzer deck such as 12SS or Lehr. But it's the same with 4AD in 1v1 - it's the strongest 1v1 deck by far, yet I rarely see players using it.

The winter sale seems to have helped the game a great deal. I think the game can be kept alive and even grow so long as we have sales and most importantly free weekends from time to time. It's a great game, but unfortunately few people know of it. Also, I found it surprising that so many new players have been playing 1v1 ranked/quickmatch.

Breakthrough game mode is so broken and unbalanced (for attackers) now, it's just not worth to play.
Same goes for Close Combat mode. It's pretty okay mode, but most players doesn't like it, games with such mode is rarely seen in lobby. But wise devs decided to force us to love it through making Close Combat mode obligatory for ranked. Very debatable change I had to say...

Well, I would say after Santa Claw update - yes, because Bazooka- and Panzerschreck-teams have been radically nerfed and AT-guns have gotten more disadvantages vs tanks then earlier. So the defender has even bigger problems now. I do believe that the changes made before Santa Claw by Eugen made Breakthrough slightly better balanced, even do I was initially sceptic. Those small changes was not enough either though, but at least something. But there are alot of other things except the crit system that have to be changed about Breakthrough. But that is a own topic

This new crit-system has to be reversed - it's really the worst thing ever and especially in Breakthrough. Two eqaully good player in Breaktthrough after Santa Claw update and the attacker will win 75% of the games in Merderet/Colombolles and even more at Cheux map. Cote 112 I never play, hate that the LOS-obstruction with heights still are not implemented when using C to figure out what my units can see and not.

I still think Breakthrough is worth playing, because it is the game mode that allows the one with the best tactical game to win and not depending if you are 50 meters in front or behind a 50% line. But two equally good player and the attacker will win most of the times, that is boring. The Breakthrough is playable still and alot better then Conquest, but Eugen have to stop doing radical changes that destroys the game.

Let's say on the 4vs4 maps Carpiquet Pegasus Bridge and Colombelles you have open parts of the maps where armored decks tend to go, towns where you need heavy inf decks preferably and middle treeline environnements where 16th Luftwaffe is ok but would prefer a more open map environnement. What does happen is heavy inf do take the towns and there are mostly panzer decks picking up the open parts most of the times. 16th Luftwaffe finds itself stuck in middle treelines and it's not perfect, 88's will not be ale to shine, your inf will struggle. If there are too many 16th Luftwaffes, you find 16LW picking open parts and pushing your armored decks in middle treelnes which isn't perfect neither. That's why imo a good composition is probly 2-3 heavy inf, 1-2 16th Luftwaffe, 4-5 armored (some A phase like 12SS and some C phase, not only Lehrs), 1-2 planes support decks (like 352nd, which turns into heavy with jagpanthers in C), depending on the maps. But too many 16th LW could be a prob against A phase cromwells or heavy arty (which does happen as everyone knows in 10vs10) and lead you to loose.
The deck is probly even more overpowered than in 1vs1 though cause you may decide to go more plane heavy to support everywhere than in any other teamgame.

I love this game, but I will say the recent patches and change to the crit system are really annoying. This game is a few updates and patches away from being spectacular. I'm glad they held off on tanks through hedgegrows because im sure it wasn't testing well. Some game developers don't even bother and will push it forward anyway.

Loving everything about it so far!
